The OEM brake pad set will come complete with pads, shims, and a packet of Molykote 77 brake grease. (That little 'pillow' at the upper RH corner of your diagram.)

Your cropped image doesn't include the indicator that the pad set is # 9 and includes everything.

Honda shop manual's brake replacement procedure says to apply a thin smear of grease on both sides of the shims, on the back side of the pads, and on the top & bottom of the stainless steel caliper guides that hold the pads top & bottom.

Be sure that the pads fit 'falling out loose' in the SS guides. In salty climates, you might need to file rust away on the calipers to achieve this.

Also, don't forget to remove the caliper sliding pins to clean them, and pack them with grease. (You may need to buy extra brake grease from an auto parts store!)

Don't mix up the caliper pins or the SS guides, they are different top & bottom.

Finish the job properly by flushing the brake fluid. I always use two, 12 oz bottles.

When I applied my grease how can I say this if it falls in the open I do not apply there.

Translation from Roadster-Speak: :rolleyes:

Apply the Molykote to the GREEN arrowed areas only.

Or, in other words:

1. the back of the inboard pad, against the caliper piston barrel;
2. the back of the two 'ears' on the sliding caliper;
3: the top AND bottom of the SS pad guides

Always use a thin coating.

The shims are clipped on.

I only had factory shims slide ONCE in 30 years of Hondas, and that was after I removed the pads mid-cycle to lube the caliper slider pins. :mad:

(Sometimes, I wish I could afford a better mechanic, LOL)

The misplaced shims did not damage the rotors, but they screeched very loudly. :eek:
