So we were planning on getting a 2015 CRV EX AWD and on researching the car there seem to be a lot of vibration issues. Is it really that bad meaning a large majority have this issue or just a few cars? We are now on hold in making the purchase.
Golden6911, is any of three a 2016 model? Thank youI have taken three Cr-V's for a test drive and sensed the idle vibration in one of them. It wasn't terrible, but it was definitely noticeable.
I'm in the market for 2 SUVs in the CRV class! I really don't think it is just a few people whining about the vibration issue. I have seen the complaints on a fair # of websites, and Honda does now acknowledge the issue. Yes it may be a small # of CRVs that are affected, but not something I am willing to gamble on, and I love our 2011 CRV Ex_L. Honda has until early January to say 2016s do not have the vibration issue, if not, the 2 new SUVs in may drive way will not be a Honda, which pains me as I consider myself to be a Honda/Acura kind of guy!I thought the 2015 and 2016 were 100% IDENTICAL, except the price increase and addition of the SE trim level?
We bought two 2015 tourings last week, and are not having the vibration issue at ALL. In another thread, someone said that models shipped/manufactured from June 2015 forward are not experiencing this issue - but who knows. Ours were both manufactured in September 2015. I know a software update came out this year, to partially address it. Perhaps June is when they started putting them in at the factory?
A friend of ours bought a 2015 EX-L a few months back, and she also isnt experiencing any problems.
I was very suspicious of the claims of this problem on the forums, and it almost discouraged me from making the purchase. But I think maybe those experiencing the issue are not in the majority, or perhaps they have Lexus like expectations from an economy vehicle.(sorry)
If you are having the issue, my advice is to have the dealer put the current firmware into the car to address it. We couldn't be happier with the new cars, so far. I'm only on day 9(and day 4 for #2), but I think we would have experienced it by now. There is a VERY slight shudder at 500rpm or so(with headlights and all electrical drawing device OFF), but it's a non issue imo. With a slight electrical/alternator demand (head, lights, charging phone, radio, etc) it idles a bit higher and doesnt even get that.

Honda would have loved to hear from you. They just came out with a TSB addressing this issue by changing several parts and software. Will cost them mega bucks. It's real alright. Just wait.I was very suspicious of the claims of this problem on the forums, and it almost discouraged me from making the purchase. At a "Thank you for buying a Car" dinner at my dealership, I spoke with the Senior Mechanic. I asked him about this in February or March of this year. He said some CRV's have a very strong vibration. I am fortunate as mine is minimal but the Honda dealer itself admitted that they had seen some that were unacceptable.I was very suspicious of the claims of this problem on the forums, and it almost discouraged me from making the purchase. Do you have the TSB number?Honda would have loved to hear from you. They just came out with a TSB addressing this issue by changing several parts and software. Will cost them mega bucks. It's real alright. Just wait.
You do realize Consumer Reports has ranked Lexus #1 and Toyota #2 in reliability.I'm just glad that they have released a few videos and kept us up to date, the previous software fix, and now the 3 new items in last week's TSB. It makes me confident that I picked the right company, and that they will stand behind the product. Coming from Lexus/Toyota, it HAS to be better. Although my old vehicles were reliable, they had over a dozen recalls combined. The Canadian factory was new that year and there were many faults with the Lexus.
You do realize that Lexus and Toyota are the same company. Consumer Reports is not the most reliable source because they only survey their own members who tend to be very conservative middle aged people. Both Toyota and Honda produce excellent products. I have owned Honda products since 1981 and I haven't found the quality to be in decline. Honda did have some transmission issues with the 6th generation Accords but they extended the warrantee and replaced them for free. I have driven a couple of Toyota products as rental cars and I find them very competent but boring cars. I understand that their newer models handle better these days but not as good as the equivalent Honda models. You do realize Consumer Reports has ranked Lexus #1 and Toyota #2 in reliability.
My last car was a Camry. This is my first time with Honda and honestly, I am not impressed and I am really not affected by the vibration. IMO - I think Toyota makes a better vehicle and I think Honda has slipped (well, according to Consumer Reports, they have slipped quite a bit).
My friends used to rave about their Hondas. They even agree that this is not the Honda they are used to.
Yes I realize they are the same company but Consumer Reports separates them so I did also. They also separate Honda and Acura. You do realize that Lexus and Toyota are the same company. The interesting statistic is that Toyota is number one in sales followed by Honda. Honda does not sell to fleet buyers such as rental car companies. Toyota doesn't break out fleet sales making a true sales figure comparison difficult. Obviously, other than your friends Honda is doing very well despite Consumer Reports.Yes I realize they are the same company but Consumer Reports separates them so I did also. I actually think they are pretty right on. They probably are the least biased company as they buy their own cars, etc.... They do a far larger survey than other surveys. Who do you think is more reliable for ranking of brands?
I do find it ironic that my loyal Honda friends are seeking other alternatives. I never thought that would happen.
You are confusing popularity with reliability.Consumer reports rates Jeep as very low in reliability yet see the resale values of wrangler and grand Cherokee ! I have seen many wranglers with so much off road abuse and they keep going on, while consumer reports rates them on highway ride and wind noise and other comfort factors ! Makes me laugh, whoever buys a wrangler expecting highway ride to be comfortable like a sedan or car based cross over.
Consumer reports killed Suzuki many years ago with the infamous roll over controversy of Samurai / sidekick. How many samurais have rolled over in real life ? I have not heard of any ! Plus samurai / sidekick were one of the most modded small trucks and owners swear by them.
I agree and disagree. I believe Jeep owners do laugh at SUVs such as CRVs as the Jeep is far better at 4WD than a Honda will ever be. The Jeep is a true SUV and Crossovers are there for the rest of us.CR has the wrangler rated bad for reliability, yet if u ask most wrangler owners they will say it is the best vehicle and in fact laugh at Honda or toyota's attempt at an SUV (except 4Runner).
I still see 10-15 yr ld jeeps modded heavily taking abuse and still going on, CR has no clue what they are talking.
Honda is definitely taking their fair share of bashing with the CRV (Consumer Reports included). Again, I have never seen on a Honda (or Toyota) forum that Honda is buying back a car due to so many problems. This is pretty common situation on the Jeep side. Go over and have a look. And toyota, Honda have their share of issues. Somehow the media does not bash them as much as the domestics. There are rust issues with tacomas and 4runners with many owners pissed off with Toyota quality.
