2017 CRV remote starter draining battery

Very long story short, I recently tried the "remote start" function of 2017 CRV for the first time. I am now sharing this car with my wife and I wanted to check out all the options.

After starting the car and shutting it off using the FOB, I came back out to the car a couple hours later and the battery was down to a little over 5 volts. No lights, no start, nothing. I jumped the car with my emergency start power unit and drove around the neighborhood for a while to charge the battery. When I opened the hood I noticed the battery terminal were very hot which seemed to indicate an ongoing draw.

A couple hours later I again checked the voltage with my multi-meter and detected another drop in voltage. I again used the FOB to start and stop the engine to see if this would stop the current draw. It seemed to work but I also read some online information describing how to "shut off" the remote start function using the vehicle settings, vehicle options, keyless options. I turned off the remote start function and have watched the car for a couple days and so far the battery has not drained again.

I searched high and low for any information online related to this issue. Nothing came up. So I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this issue?

Did you verify that when turning it off via the fob that the vehicle wasn’t in accessory mode? I’ve noticed that last couple times when I turn the vehicle off from the fob (both my CRV and Odyssey) the vehicles stay in accessory mode.
