The dealer last serviced my 2019 transmission with a fluid change 30,000 miles ago.

I did the fluid change and also changed the strainer and filter a week or so ago. After jacking the vehicle and placing level on jack stands I removed the fluid level check bolt and about 1 quart of fluid poured out ( the car was warm). We refilled with 5 quarts and topped off after cycling through the gears until fluid trickeled out the check bolt.

I did the same in my daughters 2020 Civic . Her trans had never been serviced and no fluid came out when I removed the check bolt.

After driving both of the cars the cars shook when we were coming to a stop , I wasn't in hers but mine felt like it shuddered and then smoother out. Neither has repeated this both were driven several hundred miles before this happened.

Did I over fill or underfill ? Was this just a freak coincidence? My CRV has 119,000 miles on it, her civic has 65K.

Does the pan in this CVTs have a magnet? I know that the drain bolt does. I'm just wondering what the likelihood is of that filter getting clogged up with metal shavings?

Sparta49, did you happen to do a visual inspection of the filter when you replaced it? Was it discolored or misshapen? Was there metal fragments in the pleats?

I did and no it looked good. I am actually about to do another service with filters in a month or so and will try to remember to take some pics. And yes the pan does have magnets in it. I had very very fine shavings on them . It was almost like wiping graphite off of them.

What oil did you use??
I used the Honda HCF2
