2025 LX - Speaker Upgrade

Hey all.

Talldude here, only way I could fit in a CR-V was to get the base LX without the sunroof.

The LX comes with 160-watt, 4-speaker audio system while EX and Sport Hybrid trims come with a 240-watt, 6-speaker system.

I am happy with the volume levels of my LX. I don't like loud music, and usually keep the volume at 13, max volume level is 30 I believe.

I feel like the stereo could sound better. Has anyone replaced their stock speakers with better ones?

I did some research and this upgrade can easily get complicated with addition of amp, woofer and wiring--which I would like to avoid.

I do not want to go to a stereo shop, I don't think I can afford their labour and markups.

I only got 4 speakers to work with. Please share your opinion and, or experience in upgrading.

Thank you :)

I think you are in the right direction.
Usually upgrading the speakers 1st will definitely improve the sound.
I would suggest to check Crutchfield.com they have many selection & many models of speakers you can sample the sound.
get the good quality speakers.
if you go with Crutchfield.com they will also add needed hardware for free like speaker adapters & wiring harness adapters.
congratulations on your new ride!
I have bought a few pairs from them.
I am very pleased with them.

For what you are trying to achieve I second the recommendation for Crutchfield. Give them a call and talk to a specialist. They are usually quite knowledgeable and will offer advise.

Will also recommend Crutchfield. Have used their services for 3 different audio upgrades from head unit to speakers to small amp [Alpine 445]. Great selection, even better tech support. Unfortunately, head unit upgrade is impossible in that OEM head unit is a part of the computer system.

Will also recommend installing sound deadening material inside all doors, back hatch, to isolate outside noises.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

I also bought the 2025 LX model and you couldn't have said it any better. I have changed the door speakers like 4 times already and I own a car stereo shop. I went with Memphis PRX in the front doors and had amazing sound. The back doors are a completely different story. I have tried everything under the sun to try and get the back doors to sound "better" to no avail. My next step is to completely rewire the car and add a multiple channel amp.
