All-Weather Floor Mats – WeatherTech or Honda?

I wanted to share my floor mat insights so you can save yourself some money and avoid having an extra set of floor mats.

I initially purchased WeatherTech All-Weather Floor Mats (through CarID) when I bought the 2020 CR-V Hybrid. The mats work great and do the job. I broke down and recently purchased the Honda All-Season High Wall Floor Mats (through Bernardi) because I realized that wanted full floor coverage at the back seat. The WeatherTech mats only covers where the floor depresses, which makes sense and I figured that would be fine. However, my children run across the back seat, and occasionally, the middle seat gets occupied. With no protection at the floor bump in the middle, it was getting dirty.

The only floor mats I could find that provide full back seat floor coverage are the Honda manufactured All-Season Floor Mats, and you have to buy the entire set. So I have full coverage now, but I also have two sets! I figured I could share some of the differences between the two sets since I have them both to help others decide.
  • Honda “High Wall” are definitely significant and provide more side wall coverage than WeatherTech. However, I am not sure if the high walls are really necessary.
  • Honda mats provide better overall floor coverage and contour nicely. In the pictures, you’ll see that the WeatherTech back seat floor mats are shorter.
  • Honda brand mats are a stiffer rubber
  • WeatherTech has better foot traction, just given the tread design. I’m still deciding on whether to swap out the front seat floor mats back to WeatherTech for this reason, especially for the driver’s seat. I prefer having my feet being more secure.

Welcome to the Forum!
The Honda mats were in the back of my car when I picked it up, still in the plastic.
I assumed all Hondas came with both the carpet and the weather mats. Only learned later the weather mats are supposed to be extra cost.
One more point for my dealer I guess.
I see the Weathertecs cover the "Dead pedal" on the driver's left (US vehicles).
I don't think that's necessary, but some might like it.
I like the Honda mats, especially for the price (zero).
I agree with @JB in AZ, great post. Proof of "A Picture is Worth 1000 Words".

BTW - You can put your vehicle details in your profile, so if you ask a question in the future you won' have to type them again.
And, if you put your location in the profile, people will get it when they hover over the flag.
Not required, of course, but it can help at times.

Welcome to the forum, and I appreciate your very well presented first post. Excellent! :)

When I looked at floor mats for my 2017, I did not like that some rear mats did not cover the entire floor surface, including the minimalist little center hump. And while Weathertech gets overall great reviews from owners, in my personal view they offer nothing more than others, and at a higher price. So, I ended up going with this full front and rear set, and it is now over 4 years old and still holding up well:

Great pricing, well made, and they match every single little change in floor surface, particularly for the front seat positions. The rear floor cover fits in like a glove and does not move around at all. Fit's like a glove is the accurate phrase for these mats, both front and rear.

I like the Husky brand so well on my CRV, I purchased them for my wife's 2018 Accord as well. And they also are great, though after 3 years now, I do see just a bit if dimpling on the drivers side floor cover, due to her wearing heels when she drives and digs the heel into the floor as she drives I guess.

So, how have these held up? Still happy with them? Thinking ahead for a Gen6 hybrid this coming spring.

You should have bought the WeatherTech Floorliners, not the floor mats if you wanted full rear carpet coverage.

You make a very good point with the floor liners. My need was initially for "All-Season/All-Weather" mats, and floor mats are what came up in my search. Though, at this point, I don't want to spend anymore money, and hopefully others won't either.

We have the WeatherTech floor liner in both our vehicles (08 and 18 crv). The floor liner for the 2008 is much sturdier and much more robust than the floor liner in the 2018. I was a bit let down when we bought the one for our 2018, but overall, I'm still happy with them. Next vehicle probably won't be seeing WeatherTech floor liners. We'll probably find a different company.

Yep.. one of the first things I do is pull the stock floor mats, roll them up and pack them in a large trash bag and then store them in the garage. If the floor liners are still good when I let go of a vehicle, I leave them and throw the stock floor coverings into the trunk.. just like when Honda ships the vehicles.

I got some Honda winter mats. My only concern is there is no covering under the accelerator pedal and foot rest on the left. Of all the places you put rubber. Those are the places I would cover. We get a lot of snow here and over the lifetime the water salt will drip into the fabric of the car and eat it away.

So the Honda all-weather mats are no longer made by Weathertech? My youngest got both sets with her TSX when we bought it--the carpet mats were in the trunk. When she swapped them for summer, she noticed the Weathertech branding on the TSX mats. Wouldn't surprise me if Honda went the cheap route and found a less expensive supplier but in the past, their all-weather mats were made by Weathertech.

I just bought a Weathertech cargo floor mat for my '09 and it's nicely made and grippy. I should have bought it years ago.

I started out with the OEM all weather mats, but ponied up for WeatherTech almost immediately because there's one crucial flaw with the OEM mats: they don't cover the carpeted area behind the accelerator, brake, and dead pedals very well at all. In my snowy, salty, muddy, dirty mountain environment this was a deal-breaker. The WeatherTech mats provide far superior coverage in these crucial areas. The set on my '07 were in like-new condition after 10 years, so I was confident in purchasing from WeatherTech again.

Is there any difference between the floor mats for gas CRV and hybrid CRV? Mine is 2020 hybrid.

Asking because I liked one from Lasfit for 100$, but ebay/Amazon says it doesn't fit my hybrid.

Checked Honda OEM all weather mats and local dealer quoted 180$. Collage hills Honda has them on sale for 120$ + 40$ shipping.

Weather tech looks too expensive to me.

Any hybrid owners, help me out if you have them installed from a gas version.

Cheers

I would find it hard to believe the mats are different between a 1.5T and a hybrid.
While I can't be certain, I do know that the floor and pedal setup is the same on both vehicles.
I had to look into this and measure things when I had a second accelerator installed, there was absolutely no difference.

08P17-TLA-111 is the part number given to me by the local dealer for my vehicle specific all weather mat.

Collage hills shows the same part number. They don't distinguish the floor mats for gas vs. hybrid. They do list two different parts for certain other items (like cargo tray).

So I believe the same mats will fit both.

Adding one more option here for people to decide.

It covers better than Honda and weather tech.
As expensive as both.
Had them only for a day, so can't comment on the maintenance or durability. Loving it so far.
