10w30 if you only drive in 32°+ environments. 5w30 for all temperatures.

That is Honda's recommendation. Do not use any other weight of oil.

Conventional vs. high mileage vs. synthetic, and brand vs. brand is a debate that has been seen here many times. There are valid advantages and disadvantages to all of these options.

Do not experiment with different weights of oil. You'll only wear your engine out.

 

So your recc is 5w-30 ? I feel its engine get hot very soon and release heat. Why its due to oil or ?

How far does the temperature gage go up? Does the car overheat? Or do you mean that it gets hot enough quickly so that you can use the car heater? I am running full synthetic in my 1997. (173,000 + miles)

 

Overheating issues can be caused my many things, including the wrong weight of oil.

 

Yes, 5W-30 is what you want. We get temperatures that range from the middle teens to 100 degrees plus here and 5W-30 has worked well all year round.

We use Mobil 1 High Mileage synthetic in both our ‘98’s and are very pleased but any quality 5W-30 is fine including Honda’s brand but it’s a matter of cost or preference.

It’s possible but I doubt your oil is causing your overheating problem. Check your thermostat and your cooling system. I had a overheating problem traveling in 100+ temperatures and solved it just by switching to Honda’s brand of coolant which I recommend highly.
