Hi All,
I have a 2007 model and take care of it pretty well, replace worn parts, service etc. Its done over 200,000kms and recently has started making creaking noises when driving. Typically its at lower speeds and it isn't affected by acceleration, braking or turning. The noise seems to be from the front left side perhaps (front passenger side in Australia). I had a suspension specialist check it out and he confirmed that its not from the suspension or brakes, ie its nothing obvious or worn etc.
They were able to replicate the noise by having the car on a slight incline and rocking it gently using the accelerator only. Also the noise is only really audible when inside the car, so its clear in the cabin, but the mechanic on the outside could barely hear it, if at all.
They came to the conclusion that it appears to be body creak, as in it could be caused by movement of panels, chassis etc. He said the only other time he came across this in his career turned out to be from missing or failed spot welds.
So yes, I'm at a loss; this isnt an easy one at all.
Has this happened to you? What caused it? What specifically can I check?
Thanks!
