Car and Driver has posted their comprehensive review. Summary: They really liked the car, except for the entertainment system, which they thought was slow and unnecessarily reliant on the screen. They also didn't like how much road the front and rear obstructed.

Highs:
Comfortable driving position, quiet interior, an audio volume knob is back, increased passenger and cargo space.

I agreed with their Lows but found some un-true about the Highs, at least on my EX-L AWD.
Wind noise, road noise and even engine noise are horrible. I don't expect much since it isn't luxury but through 5 generations, I thought it would be better.

"When it comes to efficiency, though, the CR-V shames all compact-SUV comers. EPA-rated at 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, the AWD CR-V tops its peers by margins not usually seen within highly competitive segments."

Not sure how others perform but I ain't getting anywhere near 29 mpg even I'm on 75% highway, 25% local. I got 25.x mpg average.
I haven't checked but it seems my friend's RAV-4 Limited AWD is better by at least 3 mpg.
Oh, well!

Interesting that some find the wind/road noise to be worse than others. I don't find it objectionable at all and compared to my Gen 3 and Gen 4 it is quieter and way more comfortable. I'm sure you've checked the air in the tires ensuring they are not over-inflated.

That being said if I came from a luxury brand or maybe a Mercury Grand Marquis I would probably find the CR-V very loud in comparison.

Given C&D got 31-32 mpg hwy, I don't believe people's complaints about poor fuel economy is anything other than cold weather, winter blend fuel, and for the most part driving style. In over 30 years of owning Honda cars, I've always beat the EPA numbers by 1-2 mpg, and that's in brisk driving, not lolly-gaging around. They even published a comparison along with several other competitors and the CR-V had the best fuel economy among those vehicles. So if you're getting poor fuel economy in the CR-V, it would only be worse in any of those other models.

As for the interior noise, I'd also tend to believe an instrumented test from the car magazine over a new owner who feels the new model is louder. One difference is, C&D compared the noise level to the outgoing CR-V, not a Lexus or Cadillac, and measured a 2db decrease over the 2015 model.

I think it's great to see these instrumented tests like what C&D does, it takes all the subjectivity out of the equation.

I believe it is true in my case, that's why I mentioned it isn't a luxury :( Maybe I just got spoiled.

Regarding to the fuel efficiency, cold weather? hell yes, I'm living in MA and it is still winter, but not driving style as I'm pretty conservative.

Otherwise, the only other explanation for some people getting ~25mpg while others get ~31mpg is there is something different or wrong with those engines, which would be hard for me to believe.

My previous car was a '14 CX-5 GT. The CR-V handles nicely, yes, but the CX-5 is more rewarding to drive. It feels smaller, nimbler and better balanced than the Honda.

I appreciate my CR-V for many of its qualities, but it still feels less planted on the road than a CX-5 to me.

Is there a car out there with zero negative points or issues? I read several reviews and found that rogue is a golf cart, rav4 interior is inferior, cx5 is somewhat less reliable, tucson has low avg, crv(2016) is bland etc. My feeling about reviews is they need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Consumer reviews are much more helpful but vary as per personal preferences. My family and friends have all these cars and most of them could'nt be happier. Infact, some of them just bought the "best deal" they could get.
