I guess the obvious suggestion is use AA/CarPlay so there’s no need to see or access your phone while driving.

 

This has become a daily issue now.

Get a wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay dongle, this way you don't even have to take the phone out of your pocket but still have the features a smartphone provides such as navigation and music/podcasts on the car's screen.

 

Even plugging it in is not much of a burden. I don’t want the phone in my pocket for comfort reasons, so connecting via USB is just part of starting the car for me.

 

Personally, my phone stays tucked in one of my pockets when in my vehicle. But I am fairly unusual in that regard I think.

For owners who want to visibly see and access their phone in their CRV... and do not want to mess with adhesive mounts, or mounts that requires some dash modifications... I would suggest the line of phone holders from Weathertech that fit into one of your front center console cup slots. I think they are a bit over-priced, but they have a variety to choose from and they definitely offer a solution.
