Hi y'all. This question has probably been asked many times. Can I drain and refill my auto transmission myself with genuine Honda fluid? If so, how much fluid would I need to buy. 2002 CRV has done 270000 kms and is fabulous. Gearbox operates perfectly. Haven't changed fluid for 140000 kms.

I have a 99 with a B series engine, but the transmission fluid is super easy to do. Even easier than engine oil. Honda fluid is recommended. Everyone will say the same thing so I may as well say it: for best results do three drain and fills with some driving in between each.

Not sure about quantity. There may be a manual pinned to the second generation forum.

You can absolutely do it yourself. Parked on level ground, it will take less than 4 quarts. All you need is a pan short enough to slide under it, a 3/8 drive ratchet wrench (no socket required), and a loooong neck funnel. A new crush washer can’t hurt but isn’t necessary. Check YouTube. There are plenty of videos.
