Has anyone replaced the factory installed "beep beep" horn with something more substantial? Also, I can't even locate the horn. I'm looking by the grill but can't see anything that resembles a horn.

I can see them both plain as day thru the grille. They are located under the large plastic cover at the front......under the hood.

Unless you know the decibel output of the stock horns, I seriously doubt the horn in that link will be louder than stock. Stock is pretty loud. You may also need to run a relay with an aftermarket horn to prevent fuse popping. I'm guessing you want as loud or louder than stock, in addition to changing the tone from beep beep.

Some folks need a 2X4 square between the eyes to notify them they are in the wrong......a really loud horn blown at them would be next best, I guess.

Have you ever pressed the horn in rage at someone and then realized it was a friend or coworker or neighbor? LOL it happened to me once, my wife almost choked with laughter when she looked at my face and realized what I had done. In this case it was a neighbor 2 houses down :Notagain:

We all need to pay attention........even friends, coworkers and neighbors.

Tragic story.....here, this past Monday, 4 people killed by 2 17 year old street racers driving factory hot rods.

I installed Stebel Hi & Low horns with the college hills harnesses while i had the bumper off.
SUPER LOUD & definitely will get noticed when on the road, has saved us a few times. The road runner horns are the worst.
I also installed the Stebel Magnum High and Low horns eith the College Hills Honda harness. It’s a significant upgrade. Not only does the tone sound much better but they are a lot louder than stock. Question for you. Did you install that red relay that came with the horns? I did not. Was concerned I’d have issues without it but so far everything has been fine.

Also, for anyone looking to do this, you do not have to take off the hood. Just have to take off the cover piece directly above the front bumper when you pop open the hood. The Stebel horns are larger but you can get them to fit with a little creativity.

I bought and installed the full College Hills kit with the PIAA horns - install was easy as pie with the harnesses, though I did not attempt to undo the horn brackets and rotate the horns, just mounted them so they pointed mostly sideways without undoing the bracket. Worried about damaging the horns otherwise. Absolutely worth the upgrade.

I did rotate the brackets so I could position the horns facing slightly downward to prevent water from getting in. It wasn’t too difficult, nothing damaged. How do you like the new tone and volume? I drive in Chicago and it is a very welcome upgrade dealing with all the craziness on the roads in the city.

I did it in the first two weeks of getting the car. This kit comes with a custom wiring harness that makes the install pretty easy. And the new horn is nice and loud - not a meep meep. Two horns actually replacing the two OEM horns. Go to the College Hills Honda website and you'll find it in the aftermarket accessories for the 2017/18 CRV.

Caution when using air horns. If you live in an area with high humidity, that moisture gets into the air pump. Then when you are driving in the winter, in the ice and snow where you really need a horn, you will discover that the pump has frozen up. This really happened to me!

I've had air horns put installed on every vehicle I've ever owned since the seventies. Even my Harley. Got tired of jerks pulling out in front of me.I had a shop do it for me that knows what they are doing. They left my old horns hooked up to add to the sound. Don't know what brand they are. Have part of the packing. says I think I got them from Harbor Freight. AJ Wholesale 12 volt air horns CHIH310 dual horns with a compressor and mounted on a bracket by windshield washer tank side. Gets their attention. The next step louder sound like a train horn. This one is plenty! Good luck.

Funny observation ..... In my years of driving around the USA I found that people living on the east coast use their horns the most :=) They don't use their brakes they use their horns :=)
In L.A. and Chicago they shoot at you :=)
