CRV 2003 door lock replacement

Hi all, this is my first post! Yay. I tried the search option, but my question is quite specific.
I was hoping to get some advice or information about replacing the door locks for the CRV 2003 with ones from a wrecked 2004 CRV.

Backstory- Brought our crv from a dodgy second hand dealership, found out later the only key given doesn't lock the passenger side door and the drivers side doors lock is barely working lately (jiggle hard to get it to turn either side). The ignition barrel is fine.

I found online a person wrecking a 2004 crv with keys/keyless entry 'kit' (door locks+ignition barrel and keyless entry computer part*) for really cheap.

Would this be a simple swap over, or are they two separate systems (specifically the ignition barrel). It would be great to have the keyless entry, but also to have 1 key for the door locks and ignition barrel.

Thanks for your reply.

They are two separate systems, but they are also both an easy swap out, except for the ignition lock, but that one is the most important. I would go for it, especially since you bought your car from a doggy dealer, you don't know if they still have keys to your car.

Make sure you can re-program your keys if you have the transponder keys. It might not be a big deal, but I've never done that, so I don't know how difficult that part is.

So it will be difficult to swap the ignition barrel/something that can't be easily done at home? I've not swapped out a locking system before so unsure how big of a job it is if they are two separate systems.

Somewhat. They are designed to be difficult to remove. Typically, they will have one-time-use mounting bolts that break on installation so they can't be removed with normal tools, so you have to drill out the original mounting bolts, and replace them with a new set.

I would check your service manual. It will have specific instructions for your car.

Also, I would read through the procedure in your manual a couple of times, make a list of any parts the manual says to replace, and get those from a dealer before you start taking things apart.
