My 2016 crv, has 84,500 miles and my engine light just came in. What service am I going to need? Asking here so the dealer doesn't upsell me when I go in.
Thanks in advance

Keep in mind that routine maintenance is not a given. Things happen that we all don't/ wouldn't expect. Acting sooner than later may save you thousands of dollars! Budget for some added maintenance items like a battery 'smart' charger, a PEA based fuel injector cleaner and other fluid exchanges. You're almost due for a coolant flush. Transmission fluid drain and fill? Brake fluid flush? Etc.? If you do these maint. items your vehicle will have an extended useful life and you'll be safer because you did it. Good Luck!

Your CR-V has the 2.4L engine. It's exceptional in design and build quality. It will go 200K with the proper maint. 300K with extra maint. efforts. The goal is to get it there. All while saving you thousands of dollars by not having to buy another vehicle along the way. Consumer Report magazine makes this money saver point year after year. Not so much lately with the newer 1.5LTurbo Hondas though.

Another thing you can do- google "Honda service shop" in your area- look for an independently owned service shop that specializes in Honda. There are many of them out there. Read their reviews- check them out. There are many very good shops out there- and some of them have honest folks running them. (Of course there are junk shops out there too.)
I have been using Milton's Honda Shop in Theodore Alabama for over 25 years- never, ever have they done me wrong. All their techs are certified, and every repair comes with a 2 year/24k mile nationwide warranty.
I would not use a dealer for service unless I had a new car under warranty and it was required.

Agree, Higgy Baby! Independent shops often have better mechanics including former dealer mechanic's working there. I once saw a Honda dealer's Service Manager throw a certain mechanics certification in the garbage can, breaking the glass frame after he had just replaced a timing belt on a Pilot. It took the mechanic 9 hours to complete the task. No new tensioners or water pump replaced I overheard! I was in there as a customer for a recall campaign.
