Hi I'm considering purchasing a new CR-V around May and all the reviews I have seen on the vehicle have said that its Achilles heel is the engine. I was wondering if anyone knows if there any engine modders/ or ECM engine tunes to increase power and torque a little so that its not so slow? I'm thinking may 20-30 more HP and Torque.

I too was going to buy a much-anticipated CRV with next few months. I have been putting back money for sometime now to lower payments and term.
However, all that is on hold now. The problem is related to the 1.5L turbo engine - but not performance related. But rather to the issue of un-combusted fuel collecting in the oil sump under certain conditions. That to me - is a BIG problem and I awaiting to see how American Honda addresses it. Otherwise, I will keep driving my 04'.

My wife drives a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport that has the 2.0 turbo with a 6 speed auto or manual shift. That car will get up and GO! With 19" wheels and rolling... say going 10-15mph it wlll spin 19" tires when needed to move on down the road. I should add - I don't do that often. I don't even want to know how much those tires are going to cost!

Others have commented on this site (on other threads) that they wished Honda had put a 2.0L instead of the 1.5L. I cannot comment on the performance of the Honda 1.5T as I have not driven it yet. But after having my next door neighbor drive my wife's car (and he has a hopped up 600hp Chevy) - say "DAMN- this car will get up and go" - I knew my next car would be another direct injected turbo engine.

I actually test drove both the 17/18 cry and accord and the 1.5T in the accord is quick. It’s hard to notice any turbo lag. The Accord had a few more features up 8ts sleeve and felt more buttoned down but the utility of the CRV is hard to pass up.

Getting stale and you may have bought a MB GLC43 if speed is that important. :)

I'm assuming you're referring to the base LX w/the 2.4 engine? Otherwise, please refer to what reviews? C&D liked it as does CR.

CRV is mid-pack in its 0-60 times - Unless you're coming from a '07 RAV4 V6 like me - it's not slow...just not very quick. :)

Per CR's reviews of their top-rated, 0-60:
CR_V (1.5 turbo): 8.2s (CarandDriver did it in 7.6s)
Forester (2.5 non-turbo): 8.7s
RAV4 (2.5 non-hybrid): 9.3s

Search this site for this: "ECU flash for turbo engine" which has ECU tune info, but hasn't been used since '17 -( I just revived it). [I'm a newb and can't post links yet.]
