Fuel Gauge, Instrument Cluster Replacement and Odometer

Hi,

My wife's 2002 CR-V fuel gauge is wonky and I temporarily swapped my 2005 cluster with hers to see if it was just the gauge in the cluster or if it could be a problem at the gas tank.

When I put the cluster from her car into mine the fuel gauge made all kinds of funny noise when I plugged it in, so I'm thinking that it is the problem, but we are going to drive thru a tank of gas each and see what happens.

During the swap, the first thing I noticed was the odometer. If I buy a used instrument cluster from ebay it will have some random odometer reading on it. How would I get that reset? Would that be something the shop could do and document it so that there is no inconsistency flagged on carfax or elsewhere?

Thanks!

There are several company's that have refurbished/salvaged clusters and will program them with the correct milage. Some may also take your broken cluster and refund you a core charge.
