Got a notice from CarFax today. Checked the recall on the Honda site says recall issued 3/25/23.

NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:21V-215
MFR CAMPAIGN ID:RAF
CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION:2018-19 CR-V Fuel Pump Motor Safety Recall Expansion
RECALL DATE:03/25/2021
RECALL STATUS:17 Character VIN Required
SUMMARY:
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2018 - 2019 model year CR-V vehicles that may be equipped with a fuel pump module manufactured with low density impellers. Over time, low density impellers may excessively absorb fuel and deform. Impeller deformation may cause the fuel pump to become inoperative.

SAFETY RISK:
Fuel pump inoperability could prevent an engine from starting or stall an engine while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY:
Please call any authorized Honda dealer and make an appointment to have the fuel pump assembly replaced for free. For additional questions or to get help locating a dealer, owners may contact American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138.

And this:

This recall is to replace the fuel pump impeller. The previous recall was the same.

Thus, according to current information, this is not a new recall. Rather it is an expanded recall.

I haven't gotten an official recall letter yet and when I check the recall website (Recall Information for Safety & Defects | Honda Owners Site) and input my VIN, I get the following response. I'm not sure what this means. I checked with my local dealer and they said that if my car qualifies I'll get a letter from Honda to confirm. Local dealer says as of right now they dont' know which cars have recalls and that no parts are currently available. So, I guess I'll keep waiting.

I believe that tells you your specific vehicle is impacted, Honda does not have a fix yet and you’ll receive notification from Honda via snail mail when a fix is available.

My VIN does not return this notice so I assume it is not impacted. However, I do get equivalent response for the battery cable recall.

Sigh. It takes literally months to get a date at my dealer for anything more complex than an oil change. And, at that, they aren't real great at even the simplest of tasks and this involves dropping the fuel tank. Hopefully, they get the part(s) in time to do this one along with the 2x seatbelt buckle recalls at my already scheduled May appointment. Not holding my breath…

Saw this in an article, so a little wait for the recall letters "Owners will be notified by mail as early as Feb. 5, 2024, and be advised to take their car to a Honda or Acura dealer for the fuel pump to be replaced. Anyone who has paid to have the work done already can be eligible for reimbursement".

I checked earlier and had no recalls. Today I got the same message as Crazy Alert, but I haven't gotten a letter from Carfax or from Honda. I'll call my dealer and find out when I can get the work done. Other recalls have been put off until the next service, but we are planning a trip, and I don't want to be stranded in the middle of Arizona.

I would gobto Honda recalls and put your VIN in for a search.

Just visited my dealer yesterday, 3 Feb, regarding this & an '23 Accord seatbelt notification we received via HondaLink.

No date yet for fuel pump impeller replacement as the supply chain for that part has not caught up with the demand.

Will call & schedule an inspection for the Accord later this week.

Anyone had this recall actually completed yet? I typed in my VIN on Honda and NHTSA's recall and it shows it is included in the EXP2 recall round with snail mail notices supposedly going out yesterday. I called my local dealer's recall line and they scheduled me for service next Tuesday to drop the tank and "confirm the part is affected." I am confused as I thought if your VIN is included on the recall site then it should be a part swap and done. I did see someone post here that it does not involve actually dropping the fuel tank which is good to know.

My dealer is saying they will drop/access the tank, confirm the part is affected, then tell me next steps which means this'll be a more than 1 day service for my 18 CRV. Anyone else experiencing this? Or can explain if this is normal.

My Lexus' fuel pipe recall was done the same day my oil change was done like 2 years ago. Didn't even know it was a recall and they just took the part off the shelf and bam its done. First time dealing with a recall that is this fresh tbh so please excuse any wrong assumptions/info.

Got the recall notice in the mail today. Right about when they said the notices would be sent out.

Edit: Tried to make appointment on line selecting the specific recall notice and the the dates were blank.

Called the service number which is a call center. The parts are unavailable and are on backorder. They will call when parts are available.

According to the service writer at my local dealer: They have the ability to fix the ones that are currently a problem. It's the rest of us that aren't having an issue. We wait. I have the passenger seat sensor recall, too. Since the airbag light is not on, I have to wait until Honda catches up on the required new parts. If the airbag light was on they would fix it in a few days. For some reason my 2020 Hybrid version doesn't have the fuel pump recall. I already had the positive battery cable recall done in January.

Parts for recall "expected to become avaiable fall 2024". Follow up letter when parts are avaiable.

Also, "Check engine light may illuminate as a result of this defect. Your vehicle may fail a state or local wmmissions inspection".

For some reason I can't post a picture of the notice.

Wonder what Honda would do for a customer if the pump failed and they could not get the part? The letter I received said that parts would be available this fall.
Guess they put in current part

My '18 crv gets check engine light, emissions light and most others at times. Auto zone pulled codes saying fuel injector problems. I can put the car in reverse hit the brakes hard then do the same in drive, turn car off and wait a few minutes before turning back on. All codes cleared for a couple of weeks. Goofy thing but I'm not going for injector replacement until after the fuel pump recall is done..if that problems exists after fp replacement.

I have not rec'd my letter yet, however my Insurance acct (progressive) showed this recall on their/my account. I'll see how long it is for the letter to get to me.

another side subject - traded in my 2001 Accord to Honda when I bought this vehicle in early 2018. Still am receiving from Honda the recall notices for the airbag even though I reply back with who I sold it too. so who knows when I'll get the letter on this. LOL
