Does any body know what the majority of fuses used in our cars are called?
We have some spare blade fuses that are used in our 2003 BMW and 2003 Passat but they appear to be much larger than the majority of CRV fuses that reside in the fuse box in the engine compartment. I haven’t had an opportunity to check the passenger compartment fuse box. I want to get some spares and I don’t know what size to get because there are at least 6 different size blade fuses. I don’t even remember what the 2003 size was called, not that it matters.

Can you please clarify what you mean? I don't understand what you are referring to. Are you saying to just replace the fuse with a wire?
Isn't the job of a fuse to protect the wiring? I don't see any type of indication (emoticon) that you are trying to be funny.

This is about adding a new device, like a dashcam, hard wired into the fuse box, not removing fuses and replacing them with wires.

You could use a wire into the fuse box, and then have a fuse in-line with the wire going to the device you’re adding. That’s one way to do it. Fuse taps are another way and could be seen as “cleaner” depending on your preference.
