Napa's website is promising an exact fit for my 2019 LX with various Group 47 batteries, some of which have 650 CCA and 100 minutes of reserve charge.

Strangely, they do not guarantee perfect fit for 51R batteries. The website says only that more information is needed, not that the part definitely will not fit.

It seems the most significant difference in size is the width, almost two extra inches. The width of a 51R battery is approximately 5 inches, while the 47 battery width is just slightly under 7 inches.

Will the group 47 battery fit in my vehicle doing a straight swap without replacing the base plate or other parts as must be done wihen upgrading to a 24F or 35 size battery? It seems this might be an easier way to upgrade to a better battery without having to go through the whole upsizing project that has been discussed at length on other threads.

Does it need a new insulation sleeve, and will this be easy to find? I'm presuming the sleeve on my current 51R battery will be too small to be reused for a group 47 battery.

For reference: since 2020, US CRVs are equipped with H5/LN2/Group47 (all the same size, just slightly different features such as a vent port for a vent hose on the H5/LN2s). They do require a different battery tray as the 51R trays are smaller.

They are available in flooded, EFB, and AGM, with the flooded generally having a bit higher amp hour rating and being the least expensive. [Not sure what they are putting in Canadian CRVs, they may be bigger batteries do to very cold winters].

It is probably the most popular battery size in use in the industry currently since many vehicle manufacturers have stopped using 51R in compact and larger vehicles.
