HomeLink is gone!

My 2025 CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring does not come with HomeLink, and I really don't want to upgrade the mirror (which is apparently an option). I have a Genie with Aladdin Connect, so I thought using that over CarPlay would be an easy option... but alas, that method only works if I have Android, and I have iOS.

Using MyQ apparently requires a module on my unit, and so far NONE of the options I've come across seems better than just keeping the garage remote in the car (which is what I'm doing now).

Anyone with a Genie opener figure out a slick alternative to opening the door through the Infotainment system via app or otherwise? Fishing around for my remote to open/close the door seems downright archaic!

Just a thought… Since your Genie is wifi enabled I’m inclined to believe that you could use Aladdin or OHD to connect to Apple Home.

If you have a QR code for your genie, you can scan that directly into apple home via add accessory and see if that lets you go directly to your opener. If it does, you can say “hey Siri” open the garage and Voila!

A challenging experiment for sure. You might need a hub though.

You could use the Meross Unit.
I installed one and have been using it for over a year. Works with an APP on the phone.
I have a vehicle that sits outside 100% of the time and I didn't want any bad actors getting into my garage by using an on board door opener remote. The APP on the phone is how I open and close the door.

Is it MyQ or Aladdin Connect? These are two different products. Are you utilizing the native Aladdin Connect app for the Geni openers or have you purchased MyQ to control non Chamberlain Openers? I use the Geni Aladdin Connect App and Siri on my iPhone to open doors when driving our CRV. There is no subscription with Aladdin Connect, just the cost to the opener to include wifi or not or the kit to retrofit a non wifi door. Works good. Super simple to set up. I also have certain doors set to auto close after being open for a set amount of time with the Aladdin App. IMHO adding in another app to control your doors is adding another level of complexity that is not needed.

Sorry Spotpup... I wasn't clear. I have (and use) the Aladdin Connect App mostly to check status of my Geni controlled door. All of our cars for the last 20 years have used HomeLink for direct control, but our new CR-V Sport Touring no longer has HomeLink on the stock mirror. Instead it uses MyQ, and the Genie unit I have (I think) doesn't work with it unless I get the hub(?).

I would LOVE to use the Aladdin Connect App, but didn't know how to set this up. I THOUGHT I'd have to use it with CarPlay, but I have an iOS phone and that doesn't work with Aladdin Connect.
I can always use "Hey Siri..." but that feature when "on" chews up the battery life.

Can you tell me how you set yours up, or point me in the right direction? I've been searching YouTube for weeks...

Much appreciated!

Amazing what Honda did! Not only did I lose Homelink, I lost Sirius/xm as a base unit. Dealer was good to me as they installed an aftermarket base unit but it is hooked through my usb-c port and definitely not close to OEM!! Re: home link loss - right now I use my remote and put it on the visor. Honda has done things to piss off baby boomers like me - black alloy wheels - hate them!!
