I saw links to the civic forum for Honda HDS and spent far too much time, seriously I do not recomend anyone go through that pain, to download, install and somehow get it working with a china ali express cable. The HDS software itself is suprisingly old and really quite terrible.

I have a fairly cheap LAUNCH CRP429C code reader which works well with my 2013 Honda CRV

I was curious if the HDS software did a service reset, specifically oil life percentage, but it's not available for my year of car UK DTEC

I was able to do one thing my reader does not do, and that is to run a test on the flow plugs, which was good.

Just posting to say its really not worth the effort, and your are better off spending money on a newer product. If anyone has found a great feature feel free to correct me.

I thought that it could be rented online for a few days for x amount of dollars from Honda website. But likely need the latest greatest windows system to use it and download it.
Plus need the special $2K or so device to interface the laptop to the car. Any other HDS is likely old stolen version from some other country.

The cable is simple, can get on ebay for not much, but seriously unless you have a lot of time and are handy with computing and comfortable with installing ripped off sware, its a pain and other scan tools are easier to use.

If I was buying a new one now, I would look at the Thinkscan 689BT, as it looks like its running the more expensive launch scanners software

This youtuber normally uses launch and is using the thinkscan, seems to do just about everything needed
