If you use that space for storage it would likely void your warranty. As bandit400 already mentioned, this space is not to be used. It's not only a safety issue, the battery cooling probably needs that area for air circulation. One way or another, Honda engineers would have made that space available if it were O.K. to use.
Do you have a link? I believe you & Bandit400 - but those comments do not a warranty void.

Also - does that mean every CRV in Europe has its warranty voided:

Recently acquired a 2025 Touring Hybrid, and am missing the space that you usually have around the spare tire for simple supplies etc. Came from an MDX, and it has a space there that you can store stuff like straps, trailer hitch etc.

So when I installed the Honda Trailer hitch, they have you open up the space with the hybrid battery ( just 2 screws ), and saw that is only about 1/2 full.

And the cover is just a flat piece of plastic.

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or ideas about using some of the space for storage ?

Was thinking of a bin or something with a lid, that I could flush mount into the cover and install in the open space.
And Honda has every right to not honour warranty on the battery and system, if they discover you have been using that space for storage.

Buyer beware.

I know I can look this up, and I will, but...

Are the 2 screws something that could be swapped out of something like a wing-nut or anything that could be finger tightened? Then I could just slide a couple of small rubbermaid containers down there.

Wonder how hot the battery gets and if we would need some sort of barrier.
Honda made access to this buffer space difficult for a reason. Don't use it!

Where does Honda say not to put anything else in this space? I can't find anything in the owners manual. Is there anything in writing says the warranty is voided? All I could find was a note not to block the air vents (page 18 of owners manual).

Right to the point...anything the owner does to cause a warranty claim only renders the warranty on that damaged part void, not "void the warranty" on the whole car.

We don't know what the warranty would do for anything damaged in that battery compartment nor how fragile things are in there. It's your car; do what you want with it.
