Is this a good time in the life cycle to buy a Gen 6?

Looking to buy a new CRV Hybrid and the 2023 was the first model year of this new 6th generation. Would it be safe to assume that the initial bugs and many fixes/repairs are already known?

I see most CRV generations last around 5-6 years, so this one would end around 2028-2029. Is this a safe time to buy the 6th generation CRV?

I have a very long and grueling commute and looking for a vehicle to last around 10 years and 180k-200k miles.

I’m 31,000 miles into my 2023. Injectors went bad. There’s the power steering recall and the high pressure fuel pump recall. Other than that the car has been no issues. I did have a very squeaky drivers seat but they rebuilt the whole thing. Still really enjoy how it drives and goes about its business. Friends still comment how comfortable it is. Drove from Jersey to South Carolina for Christmas was one of the nicest drives the CRV is a great cruiser. I don’t have quite the confidence I had in my 93 accord. That made it 364,000 miles and is still my favorite car just because of the reliability. I don’t think any cars are able to last as long simply because the parts that Honda and even Toyota don’t make themselves, they have to rely on manufacturers who all seem to truly suck. Reliability is going to be an issue no matter who you choose. I’d buy my car again tho. I like it that much.

If your "long and grueling commute" is mostly low speed stop and go type, the hybrid would be a good choice. High speed longer distance the non-hybrid might be the better choice. I love our Touring for the type of driving we do.

Early '23 Sport bought in mid April of that year. I too have the recalls and am waiting on the dealer to get the parts, but I have no issues. It's been stellar so far. As was mentioned, It's a great cruiser on the highway and really peppy (due to the electric traction motor) in the city. I love it and would definetly buy again.

Is this “safe”, is that “safe”? Nothing is 100% safe. To quote Punch “You pays your money and you takes your chances.”

You never responded to the key issue of what type of driving you do.
Sans that, any worthwhile feedback would just be a SWAG. It does not matter if the Gen 6 meets your safe standards or not if the hybrid is the wrong option for you.

It appears that you have been contemplating this change of vehicle for years. That is a substantial amount of research time.

If you end up with a CRV you can complete your profile and folks will welcome you to the club.

Time to push that launch button.
