MK2 CRV Headlights Improvement

HI,
I have an early 2004 CRV.

The car is great, but we are less than impressed with the headlights.

I am wondering if it's possible to upgrade them?

Is it possible to fit the facelight MK2 headlights to the early Mk2, and is this an upgrade?
(These look the same shape to me, but have separate dipped and main beam elemenst)

Or is there any other way of improving the headlights?
Hid's, Leds etc?

Many Thanks
Marty

Hi and welcome :)

Definitely possible to swap for facelift headlights but the bulbs will still be halogen.

Moving to HIDs/Xenon becomes an issue for your MOT, as they wont be factory fit and wont have the self-levelling system, rendering a fail instantly.

Have you tried upgraded halogen bulbs and/or machine polishing the exterior headlight housing to improve things?

Thanks very much for the information about the facelift lights physically fitting. Very useful.

Do the face-lift lights seem to offer better lighting as they are separate lamps, or are they similar?

I have fitted brighter bulbs to the current lamps, and polished the outside to remove the oxidization which seems to plague these lights.

I was hoping the face-light lights are more than a cosmetic upgrade and actually offer superior light.

Many Thanks

Thanks.
I collected a pair of facelift headlights today.
I've established the facelift headlight uses H1 filaments, with adapters, which I have ordered
The pre facelift(my CRV) uses H4 filaments.
What I can't seem to find is what size connector the adapters are? Is it H7?
I am confident I can sort the wiring out, and I have done this sort of thing before. I intend on making short patch looms so I don't have to disturb the original wiring.
I am just struggling to find the information on the H1 adapters. do they connect to H7 pigtails?
Anyone know the answer?
Many Thanks
Marty
