Yes, it is possible to change the way the odometer reads from kilometers to miles on a 2010 Honda CR-V EXL. Here's how you can do it:

I live in the USA and my father from Canada is giving me a 2010 Honda CRV exl. To import it apparently the odometer needs to be in miles but is in km and the various readouts on the screen between the speedometer and tach are metric as well ...

I would do a little more research before accepting the "apparent" premise. I've seen lots of cars imported to the US whose gauges read in metric. I have a hard time believing they were all brought in illegally.

 

You can buy a used cluster on ebay for 100-$150 they are easy to swap. Only a few listing's list the miles though maybe theres one close. If you get one that has not even close miles there are mail in services that will reprogram for about $100. I find it hard to believe the car can not be imported if it reads km on the display I'd suggest double checking that.

 

Do you happen to know for sure if its just the gauge cluster that would be replaced for this? I came across a comment that said ECU but there was very little detail and its a very old thread

 

My car does not seem to have an information button, I've looked through the manual, looked online and the version I have seems to require a change Beyond pushing buttons. In terms of whether this needs to be done to legally import it I'm going by what my customs broker says and all the paperwork I've gotten in terms of the letter of compliance from Honda etc. I took the vehicle for the required inspection at a dealer to outline all the issues on the letter of compliance for DOT compliance

and one of them was about the odometer.

 

Well, given the current climate, US CBP will probably want to go through it with a fine-tooth comb, so perhaps thorough compliance is in order. They're probably less likely than ever to look the other way on anything.

Also, make sure no outlandish duties will be imposed.
