Hello,

I just bought a new 2025 CRV Sport L in the USA. Does anyone have any idea about paint protections? Is it worth it? Should i go for PPF or ceramic coating? Or should i just leave it as is and have regular washes?

I own a silver car with black rims and tires.

Thanks

If you are worried about rocks or anything else that can cause a pain chip, then go with PPF. I did the front bumper and grill with a pre-cut PPF kit, took about 2.5 hrs but turned out well considering I have never done this. Here is a link to the place I ordered from. I will probably add the hood film when it gets warm.

Traditional NuFinish is both a slightly abrasive polish and a sealant, and that is best for a slightly to moderately oxidized finish. The NuFinish company now has several interesting products without the abrasive which I'd use on new paint. Their Better-Than-Wax ceramic coating spray and their Graphene coating spray both look very interesting. Current tech gets surprisingly good results from sprays with much less work and lower cost on un-oxizised paint. My favorite is 303 Graphene nano spray, and this Nufinish spray might equal or better that. 303 has a video where they say that the graphene oxide's job is to provide a superior bond to the paint. Whatever, it works very well.

It depends on where you live and how much you want to spend. Is your CR-V garaged, do you park under trees, do you use dirt roads, do you get snow, etc?

Ceramic coating seems to be very effective from what I've read, but it's expensive. If you go for the ceramic coating do your homework. I suspect the typical carwash treatment for $5 to $10 is not the best. Again, from what I've read it should be applied by hand. I would think a detailing shop with a good reputation would be a good place to start.

The Honda dealer applied paint protectant is certainly not worth the price. A simple wax job using Nufinish would be as good if not better.
