Hey guys 👋 new here from Australia so RHD (right hand drive) but i dont know full history or origin of car (parts store said japanese made) but cant find on compliance plates or sticker.
I have a 2000 4 speed AT rd1 or rd3 it's registered as rd1 but internets confused me (don't know if this matters for my issues) it's been problem free and a great drive for a couple of years. I have only had to rewire the passanger door jamb just over a year and someone did a very poor rear muffler delete which I replaced.
Original question that brings me here is why do I only have a pre cat o2 sensor? Everywhere online says I have 2 but I've checked 3 different catalytic converters from other crvs and they do not have a sensor or even a hole or thread for an o2 sensor? I'm not super worried about this but I got here while looking into more problems 😢
I'm blowing abit of white smoke and throwing codes. Idle will fluctuate about 200rpm when engine light is not on but over 500rpm when light is on have engine codes -
01-1(P0131)- O2S(HO2S)(S1) VOLTAGE LOW
14-1(P1508)- IAC VALVE CIRCUIT FAILURE
41-1(P1166)- HO2S (B2) (S1) HEATER FAILURE
I have ordered an NTK o2 sensor as I've heard from a few places now that these are notorious for not liking anything other then Denso or NTK. I have checked the wiring in all the obvious areas but no clear damage of wiring and all plugs seem secure I want advice on other likely answers before I start pulling conduit and insulation apart. I also kind of hate multimeters but am going to start looking into that next time I have a day to spare.
Then there's the IAC. Is it meant to have barbs for coolant? Not sure if the autos just move it to the fast idle under the throttle body. My idle has always bounced a little bit but only got this bad when I cleaned the bay, same thing have checked plugs and wiring and given it a good decarb. If I don't get any ideas here and the new o2 sensor gets rid of 2 of 3 codes then I will buy a new iac valve.
I'm kind of hoping it's just a bit of moisture has just damaged those 2 parts without taking any fuses or damaging wiring..... Thank you for reading this. I'm no mechanic but want to learn about this car as I don't have alot of money and it has sentimental value. I didn't chose Honda, Honda chose me.
1 picture for attention, 1 picture of mine. If I can get this engine sorted I move to suspension and do something different but hopefully just as nice.
