Rough idle at cold start?

When starting my car ('17 w/ the 1.5T w/ 68k) for the first time when cold every day ("cold" being relative in a garage that's often 90F), the idle is pretty rough when the car's in Park or Neutral. Putting it in gear, or running it just a little bit, and it smooths right out.

No lights of any soft, just a rough idle. Any ideas to narrow things down before unloading the parts cannon? (My first guess would be injectors, but that's a pretty spendy first guess.)

I have personally never experienced rough idle of any kind on my 2017. Turns over really quick, though in very cold weather it may crank a bit longer before it starts, but not anything significant.

Assuming it is not just some bad fuel... first question.. when you start the engine cold.. what is the idle rpm initially? It should be roughly 1200-1500 rpm initially, and then as the engine warms a bit the idle point throttles down in steps until it reaches around 800 rpm.

I would say if you see any abnormality in normal cold start idle rpm ... then you have an issue that needs to be evaluated.

I'd look at the spark plugs, before aiming the Cannon.

Start engine, if running rough, stop immediately and compare condition of plugs. (Any wet with gasoline? Are the gaps all to spec?)

Take a picture and post.

Another possibility is an out of calibration temp sensor. You know, the cylinder head sensor that the ECU uses to enrich the mixture for cold running. Had that on a kid's Toyota once.

Same problem with our ecoboost fusion, not yet qith the V, its normal for direct injection, depending on the oil and how you drive, oil forms a varnish at the intake (gum) and causes that vibration while warming up, it also worsens the MPG, no matter if you use top tier gas, gas system cleaners, you have to manually clean it, look for direct injection intake cleaning procedures.
