Moved to Gen 4, (from greetings & introductions) as poster mentioned a 2014 CRV. If needed we can move to the Tires, wheels etc. area...or?

 

Same here on my 2014. Dealer said software update might help, which it did not. Could be torque converter??

 

The torque converter is a weak link. Have replaced it twice (CR-V and Civic).

 

Because of the low speed shudder? What was the cost?

 

Can't recall, it was years ago and I only paid for labor as Honda recognized the problem with the converters and extended my warranty on them.

I had both shudder and intermittent unlock at steady speed.

 

Had that on my 2013 that I recently purchased with 101k miles. The fix was a transmission flush- cost was $308.52 ... but that fixed it. I have put about 5k miles on it now and no issues since.
It is recommended that the transmission fluid be changed every 30,000 miles. If not done on time and the shuddering starts- then a fluid change may not be enough, you may have to do a flush. Drain then fill, then run through the gears, then drain and refil- 3 times total.

Edit to add- if that doesn't fix it, then the software update...and if that don't work- then torque converter.

Hope that works for you. I was skeptical about it- but when I left the dealer and drove around at about 25 mph- the shudder was gone....and i was one happy camper. No shudder now at any speed in any gear (D,1, 2).

 

Light load shudder would if bad enough warrant gear pressure switch replacement. On pre CVT , I suggest 3&4th gears.

 

I have had the software updated, and changed the fluid, though not a "flush"-no change, still shudders at about 1,500 RPM.

I didn't go that far- I did the flush.
But I "suspect" if you ignore the problem- it will get worse and worse til the torque converter gives up the ghost. And that will cost more than a flush and a drain/refill every 30k miles.

 

It did get worse for me, the shudder turned into rattle.
