Strong fuel odor in oil, multiple 2024 Hybrid models

Dropped factory fill on several hybrids.

While I'm used to the fuel dilution in the turbo 4 cyl Hondas, it was a new experience to discover that the Hybrids at just few months and low Km on odometer, also appear to have pumped/leaked fuel into the oil pan.

Swapped out oil (with PUP 5W-30 syn), installed Fumoto(s), Mahle & Fram XG filters.

Pretty much every DI engine will have oil with a fuel odor - it doesn’t take a lot. The only way to really assess the condition of the oil is with a used oil analysis from a lab that uses gas chromotography (not you, Blackstone).

Even then, we can debate endlessly how harmful it is. Nobody likes it but on the other hand we don’t see many (any?) premature engine failures.

Interesting. I still haven't changed my own oil since I'm still under the 2 year free oil change and maintenance mark, but I check my oil often and actually sniff the dipstick. Never smelled any trace of gasoline in it so far (13,500 mi,)
Had a 2014 Hyundai GDI Santa Fe Sport. Good Lord that oil would get black just 2 weeks after an oil change. No fuel smell there either and always ran fine. My '23 CR-V Hybrid oil stays pretty clean looking.

The 2023 and 2024 Hybrid (as are all 2023 and newer Honda Vehicle engines) are GDI.
They say GDI stands for Gas Direct Injection, but every engineer knows it really is Gas Dilution Injection straight into the motor oil..

You need to change the oil every 6 months or 5000 miles - whichever comes first - if you want the engine to last.

I went with a 2022 Hybrid CR-V as I knew it was the last engine that was NOT GDI - probably my last car as I will not buy any turbo or GDI vehicle.

My 2 cents. (FYI I have owned multiple Hondas starting with a 1976 Accord, Subarus in the 1980's as Honda refused to make Cruise Control and FI until 1990 and multiple Hondas since - 2 Accords, 2 Civic Hybrids, 2 Ridgelines, 2 Pilots, and 3 CR-V's)

So you're saying GDI injects gasoline straight into the engine oil? Gee, never heard of that one. Could you explain how that happens?
