I was driving yesterday, and a brand new HRV was in the lane next to me and traveling he same route as I was. At one point I was behind the HRV in the same lane and I observed how much larger it appears compared to the prior generation. Looked really sharp in the Milano Red too, and was a Sport trim model. It really does appear to be a great upgrade by Honda compared to the last generation.

It has a wider stance between the wheels and a wider and taller body compared to the old HRV. Honestly it looked almost the size of my old gen3 CRV on the exterior, though I know it does not have the same cabin and cargo room. I could also see the interior appears harmonized with the new interior features and styling of other recent new Honda models.

They equipped the new HRV with a 2.0 liter engine, but reports are it still is kind of soft footed in performance and noisey (though Honda does include ANC in all trims now). It is a shame that Honda does not put a small turbo, or a hybrid power train in the new HRV and improve noise dampening, because this model would be a great alternative for a CRV if hey did so, for drivers looking for a bit more compact Honda SUV. Especially since the gen6 CRVs are almost pushing out of the compact class these days and looks more like a mid-size SUV.

If Honda made a plug-in hybrid version, I would give it a serious look for my next vehicle.

I test drove the previous gen several times and the biggest disappointment was the lack of power. I really wanted to like the car otherwise. Getting the car up to city speeds took a lot of revving, like 3000 rpm, but highway wise? Dangerous IMO. Merging was not fun and I failed to pass a Tucson next to me doing in the 60+ range. It took forever for the acceleration to occur due and by the time I was getting close to the point of being able to pass we had to slow down due to traffic. In other words I couldn't do it so that ended that.

I wanted to test the new one when it came out but the local dealer didn't have it in stock and I certainly wasn't going to buy a car I hadn't tested before. Most reviewers pretty much peg the car as being barely faster than the previous gen despite having more power, but its likely due to the increased curb weight. Lower fuel economy as well just hurts the car more IMO.

The HR-V will never get a turbo if Honda hadn't done it in all this time, but since the HR-V is on the Civics platform, which we know is getting a hybrid soon, and its main rival the Corolla Cross has a hybrid system, its almost guaranteed the HR-V will get a hybrid system too.

With a year left in lease and it being summertime in canada we've been shopping around .

I took an hrv on a test drive and felt as though its something we could live with . I had a deal on the table for a white lx-b awd '24 thats been on their lot for awhile . I was given aprox 3200 in value for the CRV but decided to wait for the 2025 lx awd's because they will have blind spot monitering and well , white isnt the first color choice for us .

we decided to take the above mentioned deal for the '24 HRV lx-b awd

hard to pass up the offer they made for the leased '20 CRV as equity pmt towards new lease on the HRV

this will be the first time I lease for 36 months verses 48 or the one time we went 60 .

it suits our needs for small city run about but would likely avoid it if our lives included 120 kmph driving on 400 series highways in the GTA
