Hi im new to the forum so first of all hello.
Im after some advice, i need to replace the timing chain and tensioner on my 2007 2.2 diesel crv mk3. Ive been looking at the fai auto parts kit but found some scary stories about them breaking mainly on Nissan's however not on Honda's. Just wondering if anybody has used them and if they are bad are their any alternatives that aren't too expensive . Thanks in advance

Hi there and welcome!

What mileage is on your CR-V?

Truth is, I havent personally heard of the timing chain on either the i-CTDI or i-DTEC engines needing to be replaced. Not unless there has been some sort of monumental engine failure and even then, those are quite rare.

(And of course, Honda's are NOT like rubbish Nissan's).

Have you got any untoward sounds/rattling etc that is making you consider the need for a timing chain change??

Wow, thats some solid mileage there. Granted, not knowing how those miles were amassed (motorway / local runs etc), and if the chain was smoking, then this might well be one of those rare instances the chain does indeed need to be replaced.

In a situation like this and if you intend keeping the car, I would advise going Honda/OEM all the way.

Give Cox Motor Parts a call, or Holdcroft Honda (Stoke) a bell.

Get a couple of quotes under your belt, then you can decide the best corrective course of action 👍
