what color should the upstream oxygen sensor be after running the vehicle? Mine is a whitish color.
And sometimes the check engine light turns off on its own that's what is puzzling to me.Ok I bought the upstream oxygen sensor at the parts store and I don't think it is under warranty anymore.

Many emissions readiness checks on Hondas use a 2 cycle system. If a check fails two consecutive drive cycles, it’ll turn on the light. If it passes two consecutive drive cycles, it will turn off the light. For example, the p0420 is almost always a failing cat. It can be borderline pass/fail for a long time. And sometimes the check engine light turns off on its own that's what is puzzling to me.
It's not giving that code now it is giving the code p2A00 now that's what is puzzling to me.Many emissions readiness checks on Hondas use a 2 cycle system. I know someone with a Pilot. Her 0420 has been going on and off for over 4 years now. When her smog check comes due, she immediately drives her car to get the inspection when the light turns off because she knows it won’t come back on until after 2 drive cycles … which will be after the inspection. She says that the only problem with that tactic is that she knows someday the cat will permanently die … and cat prices keep rising every year so the longer she puts it off, the more expensive it gets.
