2014 rear headrest removal

I've searched on this and found some info but not the details behind removing the outer rear headrests in a 2014 CR-V LX. I need to get rid of the entire assembly - headrests and posts. I took out just the headrests but the posts still stick up because of the two car seats back there (they're taller than the seat back).

The reason I need the posts gone is so I can haul my SUP (standup surfboard) inside - more secure since I surf before work and don't have time to go home. Plus I still want to leave the car seats in place (they're a pain to reinstall frequently). Ultimately I'll reinstall the headrests once the boys are in boosters.

thanks!

I don't think the rear headrest posts are removable unless you do a major surgery to the seats. They are integrated into the seat fold-down system.

AJR, have you tried suspending the SUP closer to the ceiling? There are two handles in the front and two in the back. What if you install something like two "Car clothes Bars": http://www.amazon.com/High-Road-Expandable-Car-Clothes/dp/B001NI7KE2

Or even two bungee cords. The SUP might snugly fit between the bungee cord and the ceiling.

Caution: Your rearview mirror will be blocked.

I did. I ended up running a cambuckle strap between the front grab bars but the board's a few inches too long to suspend from the rear grabs. I put the two car seats back side by side so i can flip the rear p-side headrest forward. Thx!

Yeah - I know how to drop the headrest to the flat position (you just pull the loop that's next to it) but the problem is that the car seats are taller than the seat back so it physically can't drop down...
