Spreadsheet

Thanks to all for sharing their experiences. I am looking to buy a EX-L FWD, so all the data is very useful. I saw several references to a spreadsheet, but didn't see the spreadsheet itself. Could the author share it, please?

Does anyone have any insights on whether it is better from a negotiating position to do all cash or finance? My gut is that some financing is the way to go, but wanted to know if it influenced dealers in folks' opinion.

First SUV for me as the wife and I are expecting our first kid so I gotta trade in the sporty sedan. CR-V is so comfortable I expect I won't miss it much.

Thanks!

Anders - also in So Fla shopping for 2017 CRV EX-L and would like to know the dealer where you got those prices ?

Thanks!
Seems like we have a tough market down here. I had a good experience with Shanel at Holman Honda, she offered me $30,432 OTD (with a transfer tag). That price is nowhere near as good as some have received, but ok for down here. The problem is she doesn't have the color combination my wife wants.

Thanks buddy. Unfortunately, I don't think we can PM until our message count is above 15.
Also, Anders, you stated that you:

"Got my 2WD EX-L for $28,600 OTD with all taxes and fees included. I think it was an excellent deal."

I spoke to Rick Case before and they claimed that around $32500 OTD was the best they could do, so we never got any further. Would like to know any additional details on your deal. Thanks.

Hi - new here, great thread. We are having our first kid and time for a bigger car.

Background: I want to email all the local dealers around Los Angeles to get the best deal on a 2017 CRV EX-L 2WD (MSRP $30,125).

1. Has anyone done this - literally email 6 dealers - what tactic works best? Name my price and let them compete? Ask them for a best offer instead? CC or BCC?

2. What is best paid price (before taxes+fees for straight purchase, no trade-in)?

3. I saw a spreadsheet mentioned, anyone have it?

Thanks!!
Same here....first kid. I would definitely recommend emailing dealerships. I got good results, just stymied because my wife wants an out of stock trim/color combo. Couple basic things:

1. Set up a new email address. Otherwise you'll be getting emails from dealers forever. Just use this email and then forget it.

2. Email farther away dealerships first to get a good baseline price expectation.

3. Dealers seem to vary really wildly in terms of where they come at you price wise.

4. Some want to deal, some couldn't care less. Persevere.

Well, Honda made it impossible for us to get a CR-V in the color combination we wanted, so we got a Lexus NX200t, and I ain't mad. It's a beautiful car. If you're in South Florida, I recommend Shanel at Holman Honda, who gave me a no nonsense out the door quote with everything broken down ($30200 OTD on a EX-L 2wd CR-V) or Raven at Coconut Point, who was also easy to work with, though not as good on prices. Good luck to everyone.
