Honda guy here (3+ decades owner/mechanic). I bought my wife her new (and our first) CR-V as a retirement gift the day after Christmas 2023 -- and at our nearby dealer, MUCH to my surprise!

Back story: leaving the local dealer's Parts window (picked up a $7 gasket), I see this CR-V at a glance - it wasn't listed in inventory on their website, so I asked and was told it was a recent dealer trade. In August, anticipating my wife's retirement and planning for her retirement gift, I had put down a $500 deposit for a bare AWD Sport-L Hybrid (SLH) in LSM at a different dealer. The price negotiated/signed on paper was "$2,000 off MSRP" ($37,175 including D&H and before tax, any fees, etc.) but due to to issues with timing and circumstances, they were delivered and PDI'd and sold. Between August and December, this happened three or four times, can't remember. What's mind blowing is, WHILE I'M NEGOTIATING THE STH, that other dealer salesman texts and offers me their SLH for $38,800 (he confirmed add-ons). Thanks - but NO THANKS!
She adores her STH in SLM and acts a little sheepish, feeling guilty that she's sort of abandoned her beloved 2007 Accord EX-L V6 in Alabaster Silver bought 14 years to the day before this CR-V (she now calls the Accord "your work car", haha).
