Audio Power Off - Instrument Panel

Hi there
I just brought our CRV EX-L home on Saturday and was having a play with the new system when something quite bizarre happened which resulted in my audio controls on the steering wheel being disabled, the music screen in the instrument panel displays "Audio Power Off", and phones not being recognized when plugged into CarPlay.

The play-by-play:
I plugged my iPhone (5s) into the CarPlay port, it was recognized and started playing the last song I was listening to and everything was working great on the center display. I then started playing with the steering wheel navigation and the instrument panel display, attempting to switch between apps - I was in music and was attempting to scroll to maps. All of a sudden, the entire functionality for the audio panel of the instrument panel and the steering wheel controls went dead and now displays "Audio Power Off". The other non-phone related panels are working fine and the central display is working fine. But ever since then, CarPlay doesn't work at all and no phones are recognized via USB.

A couple of questions:
- Has anyone else experienced "Audio Power Off" on the instrument panel and know how to turn it back on?
- Does it make sense that the entire CarPlay system would be effected by this? To me it seems bizarre, but then again it all happened while playing with CarPlay.
- I've had a read of the CarPlay thread in the 2017 forum but I can't seem to diagnose and resolve the issue unless I've missed something - excited to get it back working again.

I've tried multiple phones and multiple cables with no luck.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Holding the power button down will reboot the car's audio system just like your computer. That fixes quite a few bugs. Restarting the phone may also help. I have an android phone (pixel xl) and had some trouble. I reinstalled android auto and deleted the phone from the car then re-paired it. Working like a charm since. Had phone and app updates too so that might have helped. My wife has an iphone and it also is working as expected.

Since I don't subscribe to XM, the easiest trick I found was to remember to switch my input to XM channel 0 (has the unit ID) prior to shutting off the car. That way, at least I have bluetooth sound for phone calls and voice commands next time I start the car. Then I can toggle to radio or bluetooth for music a bit after startup if I want.

My EX-L is a month old and the display went dead after I owned the car for 15 minutes...dealer replaced...with carplay using apple maps, I don't get voice for turn by turn direction...not sure where the fault lies...I'm hoping that maybe the new apple 11 operating system might fix that, if it's a bug...or I'll try what someone else suggested..holding down the power button to reboot.
