Brake system, CMBS, LDW, LKAS, ACC failure

Initially when starting to drive the warning came on that sensors were blocked likely from the snow.
I had a bad experience driving in the snow last night(i 78 in PA) . We have an ex crv with awd. We lost control spun out and hit a guardrail (low speed) and the Brake system, CMBS, LDW, LKAS, ACC failure lights came on. Forgive my ignorance but is awd something you have to turn on? Also did I possibly damage something by hitting the rail?(just found out there's a radar by the H on the grill but there's also a camera on the windshield) The front bumper/grill suffered external damage with some cracks and needs to be replaced. Under the hood looks intact. Radiator looks like it didn't get pushed in. Is there a reset I can do?

This has been covered a million times here
If there is build up on the sensor under the emblem it will disable sensing (which shoildnt be used in bad weather.

as for a reset once the car starts up and goes 35mph for a bit errors clear but if you smashed into a guardrail you could have bent the sensor bracket which requires a new radar and calibration... better to go through ins just for that. Not counting bumper and headlights your looking over 1500/2000

stay in its bad out at least here in central nj

Someone else caved in the front of their CR-V.

You will need to fix via insurance as noted by @BoostedV. Thats why your warning lights are on.

I agree with, and saved this post from sirwired:

Speaking for myself, I'm glad the driver aids fail when covered in frozen precipitation. Those aids are built for normal conditions; the radar has no idea that roads are a slick mess, and will happily maintain following distance as if they are, at worst, wet. That'd totally be a false sense of security.

Your following distance when there's junk on the ground should be far longer than anything the radar is gonna warn you about. And if CMBS were to kick in because it thinks you are about to hit somebody? I'm pretty sure it'd be far too late for that to actually help much.

AWD and all the traction control systems are real time, all the time. These are better on the gen5 CRV then on prior generations...but no system is fool proof in bad slippery weather.. so you the driver still need to slow down and be more focused on safe driving and NOT relying on automatic systems in the vehicle since they too can be impaired by bad weather.

And yes.. when you hit that rail, it is quite likely you created enough damage to misalign the front facing radar array that sits immediately below the Honda logo on your front end. It will actually depend on what got damaged, and how much of the impact was transmitted through the body and whether it affected the radar array. You are going to need to have your vehicle checked and repaired by professionals to insure everything is restored to OEM quality and standards.

AWD is on all the time on the CRV but nothing beats a good set of tires together with a careful driver; all season tires are poor in the snow on any vehicle. The best AWD system won’t help you slow down on icy roads or to gain control once spinning around; snowtires or all weather tires will. Even snow tires have their limitations if the roads are icy and that is where a careful operator comes in.
If you do have the opportunity, find a vacant snow covered parking lot. Even with all season oem tires on the CRV, you can out accelerate a 2wd car that has snow tires. You may feel invincible and not realize how slippery things are until it comes time to make a turn or slow down. Thats why we see so many awd vehicles in ditches up in Canada after a snow storm. AWD is great to get you going in the deepest of snow and most slippery roads. But that is about all the benefit. There is also a small opportunity to pull yourself out of a skid on icy roads as well if you hammer the gas and know what you are doing.

I have had trouble driving in snowy conditions ever since we bought the 2017 CR-V. Found out on this blog that the problem might be solved with a software update. TSB 18-006; it worked! It's like a new vehicle!
