It sure does. In fact I think the US version is the only one where you can't turn it off.
It will stop when you hit 20 MPH or so, if you were going faster than that (which you probably were, tires don't maker much noise at 15 MPH), that's why you didn't hear it.

I think it’s just really hard to hear inside the car.
But in my driveway when I put it in reverse I hear a sound. I’ve also just thought this was a mechanical sound coming from the earth dreams engine’s parts spinning.

Not only not effective, in some cases counter productive.
I was parked at the grocery store. When I put the car in R the sound almost scared an elderly lady off her walker.

Huh? The “s in the transmission solenoid”? What part or noise are you referring to?

That's what I get for trying to post before my morning coffee. I must have wacked about half a paragraph in the middle of that reply. My other Hybrid is a C-Max, and when it is in EV, and pulling out the the garage, it is amazing how much noise the solenoids in the transmission make when moving through Drive > Natural > Reverse > Park. You never hear it on most cars as the ICE is running, but between things like that, and the tires squeaking EV mode can be much noisier than I would have expected.
