I'm thinking about getting a bigger suv for a few reasons.
I'm looking at the 06 MDX Touring, I like the look of the truck and all of the features, especially the extra room. I'm not a fan of the pilot nor the newer MDX.

The cr-v has been great which is why I don't want to give it up. Is it silly to get the "older" body style of a truck when you own a "newer" one?
Is it worth it if payments are about the same? Suggestions...?

Well other than the fact that they are both an SUV, they can't really be compared.

It is up to you to decide if you want to do it or not, we can't make that decision for you.

past experience with Acura was good. talking Legends, not suv's.

Recent Acura experience? Bought an RL from and Acura dealer. Paid extra for end-to-end warranty. Then several things went wrong. For instance sensor in driver's handle (keyless entry didn't work anymore). Not warranty! In car bluetooth stopped working. Speaker/mic didn't work anymore. Not warranty! Would this happen on an MDX? surely don't know.

Recent bmw experience. 530 xit. Very sophisticated vehicle. Drove me nuts. Check engine light. multiple times. flat tire warning light. Multiple times. No cure at the dealer...

Happily driving a new cr-v. We're car people. We find good cars and make them even better. (an enthusiast talking.)

hope this helps. And I do understand buying a car because it makes you feel better...

Don't overlook the Kia/Hyundai products. They have improved greatly over the years and are now competing very well with Honda and Toyota. Before buying my '08 CR-V I also looked at the Mazda CX-7 and CX-9. Sharp syling but required premium gas and the reliability wasn't up to Honda levels. The Acura RDX is CR-V sized and a lot of fun to drive ("Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive") but also needs premium gas and is priced out of my league.

Go drive 'em all. Maybe you'll decide to keep the CR-V!

After spending hours online looking around and asking questions, I think I may opt for the RDX instead. Same utility as CR-V but MUCH more fun to drive.
Premium gas and lower MPG suck, but I guess that's what you pay for performance.
I'd be buying a used RDX if it really came down to it. I might test drive one in the next couple of weeks. My only concern would be taking on slight off-road camping, biking, hiking trips; The V handles them well.
