Just to be fair and balanced. :)

I don't hate it, but it is noisy road noise even rain on the roof is really noisy. Door panels make noise if you lean on them same as the arm rest. ACC. is a POS. and with the oil problem it is a on going problem. The loss of value we are going to take is the big one, I wish I never would have bought its much for all the hype about Honda..... jim

I agree, I purchased new a 2018 for my wife. I do like the car but noticed excessive road noise, enough that it drowns out the music on the radio at freeway speeds. the whole car is kind of tiny, closing a door sounds like a tin can. I think some sound deadening would go a long way to help.
The other issue is of course is the defective engine (1.5lt. turbo) that is killing the resale of these cars.

Better noise insulation, perhaps, so that you don't feel like you're sitting in a giant aluminum can when it rains?

For me, one thing that irritates me is sometimes the doors lock automatically and other times they don't. This is when I go and open the trunk, close it and walk away.

You guys are testing us!

That's a nice bike (with all the accessories) but I'm concerned about the white smoke coming out of the basket.:evil_laug

+++++++

Edit: Jim, not making fun, just keeping it light-hearted. Hondas have always been noisier than average. I remember owners complaining about Acura TLs like the one we owned...

With all the problems in this world, people in poor countries barely have roofs or food. And, your roof on a brand new $30,000 SUV is junk because rain falls on it creating noise. If that's an issue to complain about we have it pretty good. Honda said a fix is coming in November for dilution. Did you read the Consumers Report article that was all over the internet?

I really like my CRV, but I do hate all the snarky nastiness on some of the threads--much of which is coming from posters who don't even own the vehicle. Wow, nothing better to do than try and provoke dissension.

If I hadn't purchased the HondaCare warranty, I would probably be very worried over the oil dilution problem, and I know I would really hate that.

yeah. did he figured out that he can lower the brightness of both the dashboard and that start button light by turning the dial, don't know what its called, its on the top right corner of the speedometer clusters, the one that sticks out. I think all cars that was created have that.

The solution is the 2.4L. It's a fantastic engine. It is both the smoothest and hardest pulling 4 cylinder (non turbo) I've ever owned, factoring in the weight of the vehicle. And pretty efficient; my average is 25mpg, not bad for an SUV. It's every bit as reliable as a honda engine should be, as well. And it keeps the cabin warm. The engine is my favorite thing about my car. I specifically optioned this engine after hearing about the problem of the 1.5T.

I figure i'll always find something about any vehicle i own.... unless I can afford a $150,000 vehicle... then there best be nothing to complain about.

unless then, more important things in life to be concerned about about... LOL

If you hate your vehicle and then come to a forum to complain about it daily you really have a sad life. Anything that annoys me I get rid of it. Life is way too short to get up and be aggravated every day about something like a car.

You wonder why they lock threads, If some of make a joke out of peoples problems. I paid for ACC that doesn't work right, other things that work part of the time like the locks , high beam and wipers that don't come on in the rain. Plus noise it is like riding in a tin can and if your oil was rising up on the metal part of the stick, I'm sick for the loss of value we will have since this went main stream, and you make a joke of it.... I see if people have a different view of something than you, they are ridiculed here, nothing constructive just like a child...... jim

Absolutely nothing in that CR article was new, even a 10 year old can figure out that the author was pointed to this forum by someone here. He literally states that! All he did was skim through the oil thread and jotted down some notes to make an article. The only new thing that he did was to use his status to call up Honda and get a more exact time table for a fix.

Since then nothing new has been added to the conversation. Everyone else is just quoting his article and trying to get it into their own web pages news cycle.
Folks, this is a perfect illustration of the people here who are desperate to silence any criticism of the vehicle.

How could you possibly read that article and claim "absolutely nothing in the article was new"? It defies logic. As robbyg says, even a 10 year old could understand the importance of the article and the new information provided.

Here are some highlights of the of the NEW information provided in the article...
- Now, after owner complaints dating back to early 2017 and after repeated questions from Consumer Reports, Honda said in a statement that it is working on a fix.
- The repair will be covered by the warranty, Martin said, and will also be applied to 2019 model-year CR-Vs before the 2019s go on sale.
- But the automaker didn’t say exactly how it would repair the SUVs, how many cars in the U.S. might be affected, whether it would cover all CR-V owners or only those who have experienced problems, or why it took the company so long to acknowledge the situation and identify a fix for American consumers.
- the problem of fuel mixing with oil probably stems from one of two causes: improperly designed fuel injectors that spray fuel directly onto the cylinder walls or the engine not heating up enough to vaporize gasoline left over in an engine cylinder.
- the company failed to clarify how or if engines sold in China differ from those sold in the U.S.
- Honda told NHTSA that it would probably fix the problem through a “product update campaign” or a warranty extension (instead of a recall).
- If you’re currently in the market for a Honda CR-V, you could consider waiting until the 2019 model becomes available, sometime this fall. Honda said it will have addressed the problem by then.

Regarding the heater problem, I was not aware of that since we've just purchased our CRV this last April. Interesting. Will see what awaits us come Wisconsin's winter. Maybe I just buy a power converter plus a space heater and heat up the car that way. If it burns down, then that's what insurance is for. :)

In this case a warranty extension would address the fear that oil dilution would harm the engine down the road.

Honda can't officially recommend thicker oil (to compensate for dilution) as that might require new EPA testing. BMW ran into that quandary a few years ago, when their aggressive battery recharging software made batteries fail prematurely. Higher charge rates equaled less MPG.

An extended warranty is not going to cut it. Imagine years later when you finally have issues with your engine, you don't know if it is related to this issue or not. When you take it into the dealership to have it fixed, they will find something to deny your claim. Do you the average Joe have the technical capability to prove that your engine problem is caused due to this oil issue?

#29 ·
As long as you keep your receipts of all maintenance done on the vehicle they will not deny any warranty work.

1st time Honda owners. Wife wanted to replace her Maxima with a Rogue which I (with a lot of research) determined wasn't the best idea given the issues their CVTs were having. Mistake #1 was not insisting on a multi-day test drive, my bad.

Problems we have with this vehicle:
1. Almost impossible to carry on a conversation while driving over 35 mph due to transmitted road and wind noise (really surprised at this, thought Honda was all about quality)
2. Ride is similar to the 74 Datsun pickup I owned, which is to say, not particularly smooth. (Short wheelbase I guess is the problem)
3. Fuel mileage is only marginally better than the 2009 Lincoln Town Car I drive. (Lots of 90 percentile interstate driving)
4. Car bogs down when attempting to merge into traffic, which is very much a safety issue. (Honda dealer(s) have no clue)

Do I hate the car, No, but would never purchase another. Does my wife hate the car? Indeed she does, as more than once its almost gotten her T-boned leaving our neighborhood & she also complains because she's spending more on gas than she did with her Maxima (miles driven are basically the same).

Based on other posts responding to negative comments like mine, I expect this post to be answered with similar juvenile nastiness. I may be surprised but either way IGAS.

Please check you tire pressures. Many here have reported the tire pressures were over 40 lbs when delivered from dealer, when they should be about 33. Check your label on the drivers door jamb. This should help with the ride anyway.

I'm not familiar with those tires, but I thought it was worth mentioning about the over inflations. My other thought, is if you are comparing the ride with your 09 Town Car, well....:Hmmmmm:

My wife's car, a '15 Ford Escape has a firmer/harsher ride than our CR-V, not a lot, but noticeable when I drive her Escape occasionally after many days driving my CR-V.

Beyond that, I don't have anything else to suggest. Well, have you driven another new CR-V to see if the same ride/noise performance issues are there also? Perhaps a test drive to compare would be a good idea?

Love our crv, yesterday we got a free 2019 equinox from my wifes company so
Ive been inspecting it all morning.
The seats are definitely better bolsters, so hefore i loved my seats but i can see how people dislike the crv ones

However i think the crv ones are better for a spectrum of body types vs the chevy.

But after a year of ownership there isn’t one thing i totally hate (except maybe the wheels)

Could not agree more about the wheels.....butt ugly. Who in their right mind designs 6 spokes on a 5 bolt wheel?:confused2::Notagain:

Living up north I have the good excuse to order aftermarket rims and winter shoes (-: Ordering them this week.
I think there are worse looking stock rims, but yeah, still stock looking.

Never thought I'd admit that the rims have definitely grown on me. Still not fond of the highly contrasted rims on the Touring.
