to me the HU is a computer just like a cell phone, pc, tablet, laptop. a reboot cleans out the processes running to assist in keep it running more smoothly. I do mine once a month.

I had a problem where the Nav computer wouldn't recognize that the car wasn't moving. Therefore, I couldn't enter a map address, couldn't do any vehicle stuff like TPMS, I'd just get a pop-up message saying I can access all features when the car isn't moving, even though I was sitting in my driveway in Park. Tried everything--different key fobs, drive it around a bit, turn the car off and on...no joy. Thankfully, I came to this forum and saw the reset suggestion. Held down the radio volume knob for 20 seconds or so and up popped a message asking if I wanted to reboot. Touched 'yes' and after a couple minutes everything was up and running correctly. Thanks everyone!

Thankfully, for all the foibles of the headunit, the reset feature is one that DOES work well!
