Husky or Weathertech mats?

Does anyone have any experience with Husky vs Weathertech floor mats? I've never had either one.

I see that Husky has the front and rear mats for the 2017 CRV available now for $161.95, while Weathertech has only the front mats available for $109.95. They look to be quite similar.

I ordered the Husky front / rear and cargo liner yesterday over the phone. I've always liked Husky products better than the Weathertech in all of my trucks and they are an all USA company, just like Weathertech.

I'd been talking to one of their engineers and he's kept me up to date regarding when their products would be up for sale. I'll take some pictures when they come in.

Why have you liked them better? Have you bought both and compared the two? If so, what was inferior about the Weathertech?

I ordered the Weathertech front 2 mats (which are all that are available so far from them) for my 2017 CR-V but now am wondering if I should have ordered the Husky. The Weathertech are $109.95 + $18 (to me in Buffalo) for the front 2 mats while Husky is $161.95 for the all 4 mats, ie front and rear, with free shipping but for me there was $6.48 in sales tax. Weathertech's rear 2016 CR-V mats are $69.95 + shipping so the 2017 CR-V matts will likely be the same price. So, the cost for all in for all 4 matts from Weathertech with shipping ends up being about $50 more. I hardly think the Weathertech can be that much better that they are worth that increased price. The only way really to know is to have examined both sets of mats, see the thickness of the rubber and the fit, but who orders both to check that? No one. I think I'll see if I can cancel my Weathertech order.

Here is what the front mats look like from each with Husky on top. The outlines are almost exactly the same but Husky has more ribs which might work better to catch dirt under your feet.

From my experience, the Husky Liners always had a bit more coverage. For my 2002 the original Weathertechs provided about the same coverage as todays Honda matts. Which is to say it didn't fully cover under the pedals, etc... I found that they had good coverage and stayed in place with the little spikes on the bottom. My only complaint was the Husky's was a harder plastic than the WT's.

Looking at the picture above, the Husky's look like they're longer and cover more under pedal area again, however it looks like the WT's might have higher sides in a few places.

I'm leaning towards the husky's again just because my experience with them in the past. After 15yrs they kept the carpet under them looking new and the matts were still going strong.

I have the WT's in my Civic and that includes a trunk liner. I absolutely love then and will only buy WT's from now on. They provide full coverage and have done a great job protecting my carpet.

Glad you are happy with the WT's. Unfortunately the rear ones are unavailable. I realize it's a moot point with you but some of us are trying to figure out which are better and why. Perhaps Husky's are better. It might be six of one or half-dozen of the other.

I cancelled my order with WT and am buying the Husky's so I can get all 4 for my new 2017 CR-V Touring.

I bought Weathertech for my '09 and then returned them. The problem was the passenger side mat would not stay still and would ALWAYS slide forward whenever the passenger got in or out. And I don't mean slide an inch or two, I mean slide up into the foot well. That's because the backside was smooth (didn't have little spikes or grippers to hold the carpet) and there aren't any anchors like the drivers side. Some members had said their WT mats didn't move because it was a snug fit. I dunno, maybe mine were irregular cut or my passengers really push hard on the mat when they climb ou.

Ended up getting the OEM rubber mats which do have spikes on the backside and they stick pretty well. Someone on here told me the Husky ones also have carpet grippers on the back side.

Fwiw now, I have owned both Husky and WT in recent years. I will agree with a previous post that the Huskys are harder plastic; less pliable than WT. Not really a negative but this made them more noisy, kinda. Depending on what kind of heels and soles your shoes had, there was more sound as you moved your feet. I would also say that, to me, they had a cheaper feeling albeit slight. The harder material was easier to clean imho.

As noted the backsides have spikes and they definitely won't slide around. They're actually a little difficult to remove from the car because of it.

They wore fantastic tho. We had them in a 50 mile/day daily driver for over a 100k miles and they held up great. My wife wears heels and while there is heel wear, there's nothing close to a hole. In fact I still have them (totaled car) and am trying to resell them on Craigslist.

I am shopping for mats for my EXL now and won't hesitate to get the Huskys, price considering. Both are made in the US which matters to me. EDIT just realized that Husky only sells the full set, front and rear. I don't really need rears and at these prices will only buy fronts.

If choice of color matters, only the WeatherTech offers gray and tan. Husky will only be offering black on the 2017. For me, I want the grey to lighten up my interior a bit. I may change my mind if I am able to view any pics of the grey mats against that black carpet.

I just bought and installed the Husky set. I've used WT in all my other vehicles. Echo other's comments. Plastic a little harder and cheaper feeling. Spikes on bottom seem unnecessary but fine. Fit was perfect, just with WT. I can't comment yet on extra noise due to harder plastic but that makes sense.

At the end of the day, I'd rather have the WT, but only slightly so and that's if the price was the same or cheaper.

As I wrote further up, I owned both Husky and Wt and if it means anything I just ordered Wt fronts and cargo mat in grey. I'm hoping grey looks ok for the fronts, it will show much less dirt. The autogeek special made a good price difference worth it plus I don't want to buy rears as you must with Husky.

Basically, Husky are fine but not at same price as Wt. Jmo

I would wait until Aries make a set for the new CRV. I have them in my 17 Pilot and the fit extremely well and DO NOT MOVE at all. I am very impressed. I was not happy with WeatherTech as they did not like cold weather and would move around a fair amount. I think they need to use a softer material and some backing to hold them in place.

I got tired of waiting for the Weathertech second row to be available so I ordered the Husky liners. I just received the Husky liners and I am very happy with them. The nubs on the back hold them in place nicely.
Would you be willing to take a picture of the nubs you're talking about? I've tried to find a picture or video that clearly shows off the bottoms of these liners. Thanks.

Fwiw there's another digital fit mat, 3D MAXpider. We have them in our 14 Accord and they are great so far. Super easy to clean too. I think they're newer to the market and we've only had ours a few months so longevity is unknown.

They do not have 17 CRV mats yet however.

For whatever reason photobucket won't let me copy the link to share my photos, but after seeing the Husky liner photos in this thread I would definitely recommend WT over Husky. The WT mats in my Civic cover far more of the floor than the Husky liners in the pics in this thread.

If I am not fond of the Husky's I ordered then I'll order the WT's then once the rear are also available and do a video of both while I bend them, fold them, tap them, play with them, drag my foot on them, weigh them, show how they fit in the car and anything else anyone can think of and then return the pair for refund that I don't like and post the video on here.

Then you will actually get some input from someone who has both.
