Shaking steering wheel an pull to right

Just purchased a clean well maintained 2008 awd crv, has 180k miles on it but I have an issue with it having a slight pull to the right ( calipers are good no brake drag, alignment is in spec) also on the highway the steering wheel shakes like an off balanced wheel but when you let off the gas it's smooth as driving on ice( all 4 tires are brand new an balanced correctly) I'm assuming these 2 issues are probably the caused by same culprit but I cannot find what's wrong with it, any ideas??

Welcome to the forum.

Please click on your avatar, choose Vehicle Information, fill in all the particulars. In this manner, you won't have to type in that information any time you post here. It also gives the other forum members a level playing field when they see your post. You should get better information if everyone knows exactly which year & trim is under discussion.

Have you taken it to a competent alignment shop? At the age of your vehicle, wear & tear become an issue. Have the shop do a detailed exam of all your suspension components, front & back, with and without loads. Chances are if the right side components have failed, the left side will soon do the same.

Might even have them check that the body & suspension are "square", that there isn't some damage to the frame that caused the frame to be bent or twisted.

Good luck & keep us informed.

To hazard a guess, ...
Would jack up the front of the vehicle and examine the ball joints and tie rod ends
Then, check to see if the power rack and pinion is bolted on correctly
If the rubber bushings are worn the it would let the steering wiggle
Hands at 12 and 6, check for play/looseness
Hands at 9and 3, check for play/looseness
Also, check the control arm bushings
Worn bushings could have the same effect.
As was said, only a wild guess

Sadly, it sounds like you might have just purchased someone else's problems. There are a lot of poorly maintained and even junk level used vehicles being peddled in the used vehicle market now days. Your reported isssues, could be simple or they could be complex and expensive (see below)

1) I would suggest you have the front end systems evaluated by a professional service provider, particularly for the wheel shaking. Note: it could be as simple as a funky tire, but it also could be something more serious.

2) Note: For the pull to the right, I would suggest first check your power steering reservoir and insure you have proper fluid level and no signs of any foaming. [my old 2008 back in the day, would pull right on me if the power steering fluid was low enough to begin generating foaming. Something about the foam working down into the steering fluid distribution and causing asymmetry in steering].

New tires may very well be balanced correctly, but if one of the tires has a defect, that could cause the pulling. I'd try moving the front tires left to right and right to left. If the vehicle then pulls to the left instead of the right, you know you have isolated a tire problem.

However, the problem would likely still occur when coasting, so the disappearance of the problem when you let your foot off the gas suggests there's something going on with the suspension.

It's also possible your two problems are not originating from the same root cause, so it still might be worth trying to move the tires around and see what happens.
