I got a set of Pirelli P4 Plus @ Sam's Club about a month ago to replace Dunlop Signature II's (Dunlop is a Goodyear brand). The Dunlops came with the vehicle, and only had about 12K on them with 8/32 of tread left, but they had all kinds of problems. Choppy ride on city streets, impact noise was pretty bad, the sidewalls were starting to dent in a few spots on each tire, and they wore unevenly despite rotations every 5K + good alignment. I drove about 15K on them (for around 27K total), and they were done @ 5/32" with a bulge starting to form on one of the inner sidewalls. They also had very poor traction on the first round of light snow and ice we got. I would avoid the Dunlop Signature II for sure. I had similar problems with Goodyear Assurance (the standard ones) on another vehicle for that matter.
The Pirellis were actually really hard to find in this size. For whatever reason Sam's Club is the only place that has 205/70R15 for the 2nd gen with 15" wheels. It came out to the same price as General Altimax R43's would have though, and the Pirellis are reported to have exceptional tread life, while being a good all-around tire. Handling is good, ride quality is good, winter traction has been very good except pure ice, but no all season tire will perform on ice like a real winter tire. They do, however, have an annoying droning noise at highway speeds on most types of road surfaces. It's probably the tread pattern + weight of the vehicle. If they last a long time, I can live with the noise, but I am having some second thoughts on whether the Altimax R43 might have been a better choice, even if they wouldn't have lasted as long.
