Any regrets on your purchase of your Honda CRV? what are the best/worst options? I am thinking of buying a 2013 EXL I am also looking at Subaru Crosstrek XV, Toyota RAV4, BMW X1.

Sadly, I deeply regret buying my 2013 CR-V. Why? 1. The seats are very uncomfortable on long trips, especially the headrests. 2. The steering wheel has an extremely slippery surface, requiring me to grip it really tightly to keep it from slipping through my hand; after a while my arms and hand are really tired. 3. Rear visibility is really bad, and I mean scary bad. I test drove the Forester, the RAV-4 and the CR-V. I should have stuck with the Forester. Its seats are very comfortable and rear visibility is much, much safer. And the steering wheel is normal feeling. All these things are subjective, but I didnt' find out the bad news until too late. Don't be like me. find a way to test drive the CR-V out on the highway for a while. and try backing up into a tough parking spot.
ONe thing I must mention - I was getting poor gas mileage at first but now mileage is astounding.
If I cruise at 62 miles per hour on the interstate, I get a reliable, repeated, proven 43 miles per gallon. Still, I'm going to give this car to my daughter, who's going to do Teach for America in rural Lousiana in the fall. I don't know WHAT I'll buy to replace it , but I'll guarantee you I'll test drive it for more than any 8 or 9 miles! Oh - and I've been buying and driving Hondas for 30 years. This is the first one I haven't liked.

When you buy the CRV you know what you are getting, it is an Accord in a small SUV format. Best thing about it is the reliability and easy maintenance. It is a simple car without a lot of have to fix or maintain. If you decide to not maintain it, well it will still run reliably as well. Inexpensive and high resale, no other CUV can say the same.

Rav4 is probably the closest in terms of comparison but having owned Honda and Toyota I can say Toyota quality has dropped significantly compared to Honda.
Only downside, not really a regret, is a more powerful engine but then again I dont think any Honda's have high torque high HP, it would kill fuel savings and become a different car.

Love my new 2013 CR V LX. Just over 1k on it, took it on a business trip this week. So comfortable. My only regret is I forgot I wanted a roof rack and bought one without. No big deal. I will get Yakima Q clips.

Good luck. This is my fifth Honda and I won't buy anything else anymore.

What did you end up with? I agree with many of the complaints in this thread and others, but even all combined I would probably buy it again. The wifey drives it 90% of the time and she's thrilled with it. I think most of my negative opinions have more to do with downsizing from an Odyssey with two kids and two dogs, but the CR-V handles them all. IIRC according to the specs it is as roomy up front but it doesn't feel like it to me.

I bought a 2013 EX-L a little over a week ago and love it! I got the AWD version w/o navi or dvd but thats not stuff I needed. I can't watch tv while I drive and I have a perfectly good garmin so spending extra $$ for the navi system didn't make sense. The head rest is a little akward but if I recline the seat just a bit its pefect for me.

I recently bought a new car- brand new, 3 weeks ago. I now kind of regret my decision. We can afford it, but I feel that I should have gotten something more affordable. We havent made any payments on it, nor have we rec'd the tag yet. Is there anything I can do now?

Ever hear that old expression "I'm sure I put it in park, I just turned away for a second and when I looked back it was going over the cliff. I bet it's a factory defect"

2008 EX-L
I continue to be disappointed in the fuel economy.
Had I known that 20 MPG around just wasn't going to happen I'd never bought it (used).
Drive like an old lady, use cruise whenever possible, coast to stops and turns more than any other vehicle I've owned and still can't get 20 MPG. Driven in a like manner the prehistoric 1998 Taurus will do better. That's pathetic. Other than that and the horrible headlights I like it but had I found this forum and realized the consistent complaints before the purchase I doubt that I'd have bought it.

Me too. I decided to trade my 2013 CRV in after 22 weeks of ownership, something I've never done in my life. Bought a VW Jetta TDI. Certainly not as reliable as a Honda, but better in EVERY other way. An absolute pleasure to drive, headlights that let you see at night, 40 - 50 mpg, and 10 other things I like better.

I regret the blue tooth hook up for my phone. Every time my phone is connected every 5-10 minutes it feels it has a need to reminder my MY Phone Is Connected I have tried everything but nothing stops it. So for now I dont use eblue tooth for my phone. Other than that I love the little thing

1st HONDA I've ever owned.....actually was looking to buy a larger SUV until gas prices shot up .....shopped around , test drove everything else in CRV'S class... and in my opinion a no brainer....I love it....I don't get the bitching on here about the uncomfortable seating .....steering.....headlights....whatever.... I think HONDA nailed it on the CRV.

I dont get mine till Tomorrow:(. wife has had hers for a couple months. I would like a part time 4wd option that would lock the center differential. I have not tried the AWD functionality But I am sure its no where near as good as the Audi or Subaru system.. But I didn't buy it for the AWD. I would like the pass seat on the LX to have and armrest like the other models. Personally I use 100 watt aircraft landing lights in place of the fog lights. they work very well if adjusted properly... use them on all my vehicles for years without any issues and they only cost about $20 each. (they are the same flashing lights you see on the railroad service trucks when they are running on the rails)

for those questioning the MPG, remember Canada and the rest of the world that uses gallons is 20% larger gallon than the USA. Also if you live at altitude or in the Rocky mtns and west of them you will prob not get as good mileage due to much more up and down hills and mountains. So don't worry if you are here in CO and not getting the same MPG as someone in Tx

2012 AWD EX-L
I'd give this car a very high grade overall with just a few issues. 1) The passenger seat doesn't have enough thigh support. Driver side is just fine. Not sure why they messed up the passenger side. 2) It is hard to see out the back and sides of it. I find I have to be much more careful to look around as I drive before changing lanes. The back up camera is great, but that doesn't cover all situations. 3) Road noise is higher than I'd like, but probably the same as this car's competitors.

Otherwise it's a good car. I'd buy it again.

We love our 2013 EX. We traded in our 2012 Jetta because it was a piece of crap. To the guy who bought the TDI and said it's better, just wait a few months and you'll regret that statement. Your interior plastics are going to start rattling just like mine did, and yes I brought it to the dealer 10 different occasions for that problem. Your radio will fry itself along with one your speakers only 3 weeks after ownership. Your A/C will start to blow warm air a lot, the dealers excuse will be "this is a normal function of the A/C, what happens is the brakes take vacuum pressure from the A/C". Oh and maintenance and parts are outrageously priced. This Honda is amazing! It's comfortable, rides smooth, looks great, and it's a Honda, so it's going to be reliable. I bought this vehicle for my wife and I can honestly say I would like one for myself. I don't have one complaint about this SUV.

I have absolutely no regrets with my new EX-L with nav. Very comfortable and a smooth ride. The rear visibility isn't that bad (better than what I was expecting) when you use the passenger side mirror. The driver position is great for me and I enjoy the technology and the large back-up screen (nav/audio screen).

I think it all depends on what you were driving and what's important to you. I had a Subaru Forester and test drove a 2014 but didn't like it. To me the driver's seat was very uncomfortable, but obviously others have no problem.

Also, Honda quality speaks for itself.
