On Saturday, my dealer left me a voice mail advising that there was an urgent safety recall on my 2017 CRV. I returned the call this morning and was told it had something to do with the rear fuel feed pipe, that could result in possible fuel leaks, and possible fire. I explained that I was out of town, and she told me it could wait until I returned in a few weeks.

I called Honda USA. They said that the recall was issued on 7/14. They suggested I take care of the recall as quickly as possible because of the safety aspect. I was given a case number. Obviously, I plan to give up a few hours of my vacation to have this taken care of.

Honda USA called later today to follow up, and suggested I should look at owners.honda.com to find out any details on recalls. I had to explain to them that nothing was posted about this.

Does anyone at Honda know what's going on? I'm left to believe that my local dealer and Honda USA have sat on this issue since 7/14. At the very least, not everyone is on the same page. I'm not feeling the warmth.

Would you happen to have the campaign number for this recall? This is the first I've heard of this and I'm not seeing anything online about it either.

Just checked mine and no recalls were found. Says it was last updated 7/23/17.

I tried checking with my VIN #, with no results. Also, I have found no official posting of a recall. I have been assured by my dealear and Honda USA that my vehicle is affected. I'll post more tomorrow after my service visit.

2017 CR-V SAFETY RECALL (Rear Fuel Feed Tube Leak)

I purchased my 2017 Honda CR-V exactly six months ago and last week, I took it in for its first service (A1 - Oil change/tire rotation). I was blindsided when the service advisor told me that there was a recall re: the rear fuel feed tubes potentially leaking. He said that it was a "simple" repair that would only take a couple of hours. I informed him that I was not aware and questioned why I had not received anything from AHMC or from their dealership. Certainly, they were aware of this when I called to schedule the service appointment. Nevertheless, he informed me that the recall was very recent (July 14, 2017) and that I would eventually receive notice from AHMC and that they were just being notified of it themselves. I asked him to print out a copy of the service bulletin (17-062), so that I would be aware of exactly what this "repair" entailed. In my opinion, it does not appear to be a "simple" repair considering what they have to do to your car, according to the information on the six-page service bulletin that details exactly what they do.

(I need to interject here that I was not happy hearing this news, especially since I had to work with the dealer to trade out of a 2016 CR-V with vibration issues, so hearing that there was now a recall on my NEW 2017 CR-V upset me in light of my recent history.)

Since I was already there, I decided to leave my car with them and waited for the shuttle service to take me to work. At some point, they ended up putting me in a rental car instead. I should have known then that something was not right. Forty-five minutes before they were due to close, the service advisor called to inform me that he was not aware when I left my car that morning that they did not have the parts to make the repair to my car and they were not sure when they would receive them!:eek:

Needless to say, the news did not "sit well with me." When I pulled up my VIN# on the AHMC website, there was no information re: a recall on my specific vehicle. I spoke to an agent who was not clear why that was the case, but told me that the notifications would be sent in line with their recall process. I am not sure why AHMC and the dealer could see that information on their end, but I could not. I checked the NHTSA website as well and there is also no notification of a recall. AHMC also informed me that because the recall is so recent, they have not been able to mass produce the parts to meet the demand. Therefore, I am not sure when I will have my car back. Needless to say, I am not happy at all.

SUGGESTION: DO NOT allow the dealership to take your car UNLESS YOU ARE SURE THEY HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK!!!

SERVICE BULLETIN - 17-062

Affected vehicle: 2017 Honda CR-V
Trim: 1.5 L & 2.4 L
VIN Range: Check the iN VIN status for eligibility

Background:

Some fuel feed pipes were not manufactured to specification. The connector between the fuel feed pipe and the fuel line may come loose when the fuel line is pressurized. If the fuel line comes loose, it may result in leaking fuel, which, in the presence of an ignition source, may increase the risk of a fire. A loose fuel line may also cut off fuel to the engine and cause it to stall, which may increase the risk of a crash.

Parts:

Fuel Feed Pipe (17700-TLA-A01)
Retainer - White (17711-ST0-004)
Retainer - Blue-Green (17711-S0X-931)

Warranty Claim Information:

Operation Number - 3101GJ
Description - Replace the fuel feed pipe
Flat Rate Time - 1.2 hours
Defect Code - 6FF00
Symptom Code - KH100
Template ID - A17062A
Failed Part Number - 17700-TLA-A01

I also just posted about this recall. I did not know about it either until I took my car in for its first service (oil change/tire rotation) last week. The Service Bulletin number is 17-062. I had the dealer print it out for me to read. I have been without my car for almost a week now.

i called my dealer and yes the recall applies to my Canadian LX as well. Purchased in February. They do not have parts for the fix since the recall is too new. The notice likely hasnt gone out to anyone because they can't fix it anyways. I will wait for call from dealer....

For recalls that are not a "stop sale" and/or "stop drive" order, it is not unusual at all for the formal recall announcement to owners and the NHTSA to happen only parts are available. After all, if the car is sufficiently safe to drive in the meantime, and there aren't any parts in stock, what good is the announcement?

And it's not unusual at all for new designs to receive recalls. In fact, these days it seems to be rare when a new design manages to get through the first year with no recalls at all.

I don't know why you think this is not simple work; the parts list isn't exactly lengthy, and Honda's only paying 1.2 book hours for the work. That's not a major job at all.
