Look underneath the back of the vehicle and see if there is a rear differential...if not, it's a FWD only.

I assume you are referring to seeing if there is a lump (differenetial box) in the middle of the rear axle. That would make sense.

If there are axles going to the rear wheels is also a good indicator! It is easy to see these as the Diff . is hidden away some-what. Hal

 

The only "mark" that Honda places on the car is a sticker in the back window that says "AWD" in small writing.

I guess Honda decided that any further identification was unessesary.

But yes, like others said, check for drive shafts going to each rear wheel. If you look under the car, you will also see a diffrential/clutch packs which has an aluminum housing and the pilot shaft which is a large drive shaft running down the center of the vehicle. There are no other visual differences.

 

Sticker on rear window



The sticker on the rear window of my 2008 ex says 4wd. Is this a 4wd or an awd vehicle? I have heard it called real time drive too. The owner's manual says 4wd.

 

This is the underside of an Element...But gives you the idea of what to look for.

 

I am not seeing any kind of sticker ?? Any other way to tell please ??

 

Look under the car. The parts in blue only exist in an AWD CR-V.

 

Thank you. Did a Vin lookup and it says that Nugget is an EX-L 4WD. Now just need to find out what this means as far as my offloading, snow mountain driving, and sand adventuring is concerned.
