Wahoo!!

i finally got my sharkfin antenna installed.

the local dealer charged me 1 hour, $82.00. there seemed to be a lot involved, i would not recomend this for the average diy'er.

i used an acura rdx antenna, tech said wiring harness was a lil shorter than original but usable.

sharkfin will come already painted to match.

XM sharkfin retails for $103.85, wholesale acura charged me $87.00

to me big improvement in looks...

will post pix if there is interest.

now i just need 18" wheels, euro-spec lights, and mirrors w turn signals

Well considering that a CRV shark fin costs $165 on Ebay, I say you did pretty good, but there are better deals out there.

Looks good SeaR-V!

I will have to check the Accord, great idea!

I did some searching today, it appears the Accord shark fin is different, I think XM only, no AM/FM. Looking on the Acura parts sites again, I see that there is a Kona Coffee for the RDX in 2014. I found it for as low as $74 for OE Honda/Acura.
Looks like I found my next modification.

Looks great! I'm looking at doing the same mod. I've noticed on other mods that OEM antenna has a series of rubber seals around the base, for weather sealing, that match up with indentations in the roof. Did you notice if the RDX antenna has the same rings and if they match the cr-v?

I can tell you from first hand experience, it is far more than removing the cargo light and a couple of clips. I was into mine an hour and a half when I gave up and put the interior back together. There is no way to drop the headliner without removing the entire cargo area side trim panels, the upper side trims interlock into the headliner, they have to be removed. The spare tire/cargo floor panel is removed, the sill trim, the lower and upper panels, the seat release's have to be unscrewed, the roof mounted seat belt attachment removed, I pulled the door and hatch seals to be able to hope to see some of the retaining clips. I got to the point where the two rear upper clips were released and the headliner still wasn't budging, I will not attempt it again without a service manual, there are clips for the headliner that can not be seen, wiring for the side air bags that appear to be attached to the liner, and a clip at the upper panel near the seat belt attachment that is a one time use. I was not willing to destroy the foam board headliner trying to release the clips.
The liner flexes and wrinkles the covering quite easily, there is a reason the dealer charges two hours.

Crap I just placed my order after seeing the DIY install. It seems like Dexter managed to get it done with just partial trim detachment on the side panel, and had access to the antenna bolt at the top after dropping the headliner clips. I wonder if he damaged/creased his headliner.
